NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox News' resident "rivals" Brian Kilmeade and Greg Gutfeld sat down together to have a chat about the latter's recently released book, 'The King of Late Night'.

The segment saw the two hosts discussing Gutfeld's book and what it meant to be a host for a news talk show in the industry for so many years.

While they may not be the best of friends, they were both on the same page when it came to conservative opinions.

Greg Gutfeld and Brian Kilmeade's special segment

The special segment on the morning show 'Fox & Friends', where Gutfeld is usually never seen as the late-night show host, had a surprising appearance made by the 'Gutfeld!' host.

It started with a short montage of Gutfeld's so-called rivalry with Kilmeade, which was a compilation of hilarious clips when he made fun of the host on his own show.

Kilmeade started with, "The show is finally happening. Brian Kilmeade and Greg Gutfeld, here we go!"

After congratulating him on his latest book release, Kilmeade went on to further share how Gutfeld likes to bother his fellow host.

Kilmeade said, "My staff, and I've got many, sent nine references to me. What is wrong with you? Why are you obsessed with me?"

Gutfield said with a chuckle, "You should be worried when people aren't obsessed with you. There are people in this company I will not make jokes about because they can't handle it."

Gutfeld went on to reveal his reasons behind playfully attacking Kilmeade. He said, "I love doing it to you because I can be as obnoxious as I can possibly muster and you still smile!"

Gutfeld then suggested that the two hosts should have their own talk show. "When I get a little bit older and slower," he said.

Greg Gutfeld thanks Fox Network for making his career

As they progressed the conversation around Gutfeld's experience in the world of talk shows, he revealed how the Fox Network had really helped him get where he is today.

Gutfeld is currently hosting two Fox News shows, 'The Five' and 'Gutfeld!'

Gutfeld said, "At first, I didn't know what I was doing. So what helped me was Fox, seven and eight years of doing the same thing every night."

He added, :Even though I was bad, a lot of people really didn't see how bad I was, including the executives or I would've been fired. Fox was patient and gave me time to grow."
