'The Conners' season 2: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and everything else about ABC's 'Roseanne' spin-off

Season 2 of ‘The Conners’ will see many heavy plot-points addressed, including the burning question in Darlene’s life – Ben or David?

‘The Conners’ is the answer that ABC came up with after fans demanded their favorite TV family be brought back following the firing of Roseanne Barr and the cancellation of her series ‘Roseanne.’ Despite many fans’ initial fear that ‘The Conners’ may not be as nuanced and entertaining as its parent show, it has managed to amass a huge fan-following, inspiring ABC to renew it for another season.

The first season of the series initially focused on Roseanne’s death and how it impacted her family, especially the fact that she had a secret opioid addiction that led her to overdose. Eventually, we see the Conners move on with their lives, despite the matriarch.

Release Date:

Season 2 of ‘The Conners’ will premiere with episode 1 titled ‘Preemies, Weed and Infidelity’ on Tuesday, September 24.

Plot:

Season 2 of ‘The Conners’ will see many heavy plot-points addressed, including the burning question in Darlene’s life – Ben or David? Whether she chooses to move to Chicago to preserve her relationship with Ben or stay back and rekindle her never-ending love for the newly-single David will set the tone for what is to come this season.

Another major storyline to address as soon as the season premieres is Emilio’s deportation. We saw how an ICE raid in the area led to the detainment of Becky’s baby daddy. It remains to be seen how the family will cope with this.

Whitney Cummings, Michael Fishman, John Goodman, Jayden Rey, Roseanne Barr, Sara Gilbert, Sarah Chalke and Emma Kenney attend the premiere of ABC's "Roseanne" at Walt Disney Studio Lot on March 23, 2018, in Burbank, California.

Cast:

Season 2 will see the return of all the main characters, including John Goodman’s Dan Conner, Laurie Metcalf’s Jackie Harris, Sara Gilbert’s Darlene Conner-Healy and Michael Fishman’s DJ Conner. They were all main cast in the original ‘Roseanne’ series as well.

The upcoming season will also see the return of Sarah Chalke, Natalie West, Emma Kenney and Ames McNamara.

Showrunner:

The series, produced by Werner Entertainment is helmed by Bruce Helford, a renowned writer and producer, who has been active in the industry since the mid-eighties. Among very other impressive shows, Helford was a writer, producer and later executive producer of the original ‘Roseanne’ series which aired in the ‘90s, and its 2018 reboot.
