The coronavirus crisis has forced people across the world to remain locked inside their homes. To unite everyone, a string of celebrities are coming together virtually for a 24-hour live stream event called 'The Call to Unite'.

The description of the event reads: "TCTU is a 24hr livestream celebrating our shared humanity. Who has been there for you & how will you #AnswerTheCall for someone else?" The one-day long event features popular celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, Common, Mandy Moore, Jennifer Garner, and Yo-Yo Ma, as will former president George W Bush.

What is it?

'The Call to Unite' is a 24-hour global live stream event that invites people across the world to celebrate our shared humanity. The official statement reads, "We will stand in solidarity with those experiencing pain, fear, loneliness, and grief – and offer hope and support as we build a new future together."

Sending a message to stay inspired and uplifted, throughout the event, global leaders will join citizens of the world in sharing practices, prayers, songs, reflections, and more to help you turn the pain of this moment into a possibility for tomorrow. 

When does it air?

The event is being called a celebration of our shared humanity. The event begins Friday, May 1 at 8 pm ET and airs through Saturday, May 2, 2020, at 8 pm ET.
