LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix has just released Brad Falchuk's 'The Brothers Sun', and the pilot kicks off with an exciting start. The show, led by Justin Chien, strikes a balance of humor and action.

Chien portrays Charles Sun, the Triad enforcer in Taiwan, who surprises viewers with his dual passion for baking. The pilot unfolds with Charles peacefully baking flawless cakes, only to face a sudden threat from skilled assassins.

Charles Sun's baking session turns into a bloodbath

In the heart of Taiwan, a nice and comfy baking session soon turns into a bloodbath when three masked assassins barge into Charles Sun's high-rise apartment. Charles loves to bake and when he has uninvited guests interrupting him, he makes sure to take them all down with a rolling pin before the microwave beeps.

Charles is the son of the head of the Triads in Taiwan. Killing is a part of the job and Charles has been trained to be a polished warrior. But what upsets his father is his son's habit of killing 'em all before trying to find out who's behind the attack.

Charles Sun predicts the attacker

Charles assumes that it is none other than Sleepy Chan who wants to weed out his family to be the biggest triad in Taiwan. Before his father could share his insights, a bullet comes through the window striking him in the stomach.

While Charles' father fights for his life in the coma, he decides to move to LA to protect his family. His mother and younger brother moved to the other continent years ago "to protect the family."

Charles' mother, Eileen Sun, lives with her other son, Bruce in Los Angeles. Bruce Sun (played by Sam Song Li) is a soft-natured teen who is too scared to tell his mother that he spent his tuition fees to take improv classes.

The attackers follow Charles Sun from Taiwan to LA

Eileen and Bruce live an ordinary life which takes a U-turn upon the arrival of Charles. The moment Charles enters his mother's home, he is attacked once again. A quick hand hustle and the assassin lay on the floor, dead!

Eileen, portrayed by Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, enters the home and seems at ease. With no sign of panic on seeing a dead body in her hallway, she first greets her son and then complains that her house is a mess.

Meanwhile, with just $7 in his pocket, Bruce decides to get help from his childhood friend to pay the tuition fees of his premed school. There's only one way to earn $5000 overnight, and it is by selling drugs.

"Dude, I am not a criminal," Bruce says to emphasize that he and Charles come from different worlds. But Bruce has no other way out! He goes to the club for his first gig as a drug seller.

Charles ends up in the same club to find some men who could get rid of the dead body. Charles decides to take Bruce home but the drug mafia gets in the way. While Charles is busy taking them down, another group of masked assassins enter the club to kill Charles.

The first episode ends on a cliffhanger leaving us to wonder if Sleepy Chan is the mastermind behind the attacks or if there are bigger forces in play.

In the next episode of 'The Brothers Sun', Bruce, who was told that his father is a gambler and his brother works in Antarctica, will be down for a big shock. Meanwhile, Charles has to do everything in his power to protect his family from the unknown assailants.

'The Brothers Sun' is now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
