'Blacklist' actor Brian Dennehy, who played the role of Dom in the NBC show died this year, leaving fans to wonder what would happen to his character. Dom is the key to many mysteries and has a lot to explain. The last we saw, at the end of Season 7, Dom was shot by Katarina Rostova (Lotte Verbeek), and was in coma. He was hanging on somehow and it was uncertain what his fate would be. After Dennehy's death, there was much question on whether the character would be written out completely. However, fans were not expecting the actor to be recast by Ron Raines While many fans agree that the character had to be recast, others don't feel so good about it.

"Part of me wishes that @NBCBlacklist didn’t recast the Dom character after Brian Dennehy passed away. #theblacklist," a fan tweeted.

"Just wanna give a shout out to Ron Raines. His performance tonight as our beloved Dom was great! Huge shoes to fill but he hit it out of the ballpark.  #TheBlacklist," one noted. "That’s the wonderfully talented Ron Raines as Dom on #TheBlacklist - great to see him back on screen! #GL," a fan wrote.

Some were fair and said that Raines was doing a fair job, even though his accent wasn't as impeccable as Dennehy's. "Ron Raines is doing well as Dom. The accent isn't quite the same but it is all good. #Thankful #TheBlacklist," a fan tweeted. "I miss Brian Dennehy as Dom, but his replacement is fantastic. He captures Dom perfectly. #TheBlacklist," another wrote. "i really will miss the real Dom :( #TheBlacklist," one wrote. "Though we all miss Dennehy, Ron Raines is a solid addition since Dom obviously has much more story to come. #TheBlacklist," one wrote.

Fans said that Raines has 'big shoes' to fill. "Big shoes to fill @NBCBlacklist #Dom #BrianDennehy #TheBlacklist," a fan tweeted.

Meanwhile, Liz has abducted Dom for good reasons of course--- because she still thinks that Katarina can get him to talk, and well, not torture him. In the preview for the next episode, Dom says he has told Liz 'everything'.

'The Blacklist' airs on NBC Fridays at 8 pm.
