When will 'The Batman' release on HBO Max? Robert Pattinson-starrer might see delay

If the movie does well at the Box office and in terms of audience reception, then the date of release on HBO Max won't reportedly be April 19

'The Batman' is the first live-action film since 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' (at this point, DC fandom has not accounted for 'Justice League' as an official film) and already earned rave reviews for the dark depiction of Gotham's caped crusader. Robert Pattinson as the masked vigilante takes on the Riddler and is ably assisted by Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) and Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright). The DC thriller also stars John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell in key roles.

Directed by Matt Reeves, the film sees the Riddler (Paul Dano) trying to flood the city of Gotham and the onus falls on the Bat and takes on the masked twisted criminal who also goes on a killing spree before unveiling his master plan. With the movie now running in theatres, the next question is when the film releases on HBO Max.

When does 'The Batman' release on HBO Max?

Per reports, 'The Batman' is slated to hit the streaming network 45 days after theatrical release. With the film releasing March 4 in cinemas, the movie will likely release April 19, 2022, on HBO Max though there has been no official confirmation. The last time, WB has released content simultaneously on both platforms — theatre and the streamer. However, with 'The Batman' they intend to give it a good run on the silver screen before getting it to the smaller one.

If the movie indeed does well at the BO and in terms of audience reception, then the date of release on HBO Max will probably be pushed back. The movie is a reboot and marks the new dawn of the Dark Knight universe. There are a couple of sequels and a spin-off in development, so a longer run in the cinemas can be expected. For those who haven't caught the movie yet, here's the official synopsis:

"An edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realization that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he's hunting."
