Was Ryan eliminated due to his resemblance to Clayton? 'The Bachelorette' fans joke 'bye Clay'

Fans were completely taken by surprise and felt upset over Ryan's elimination from 'The Bachelorette' Season 19

Clayton Echard might not be a part of the ongoing 'The Bachelorette'  Season 19, but his spirit continues to haunt 'The Bachelor Nation' franchise. From current bachelorettes Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia's constant references about him to the glaring resemblance that some of the suitors bear with the 'Bachelor' alum, it seems like Clayton is very much a part of the season. 

After canceling the rose ceremony in the pilot episode, Rachel and Gabby decided to host the first rose ceremony of the season. The rose ceremony featured some very surprising and unexpected results, such as Mario Vassall, who seemed to have caught Gabby's eye bagging the final rose to Ryan Mula being shown the door. Fans were especially surprised to see the 36-year-old's elimination as they felt that Ryan and Gabby had a special connection. In a bid to explain the unexpected elimination, several fans concluded that Gabby and Rachel may have kicked Ryan out of the dating show owing to his striking resemblance to Clayton.

A fan tweeted, "Bye clay- i mean jesse- sorry RYAN #TheBachelorette." Another fan wrote, "Ryan reminded them too much of Clayton so he had to go bye bye #TheBachelorette." "That Ryan guy looks like Clayton. I love @pilot__rachel and @GabrielaWindey they are great! #TheBachelorette," pointed out a fan.

But fans aren't willing to let go off Ryan just yet. Many fans hoped for the Boston resident to return on the spinoff series 'Bachelor in Paradise'. A fan shared, "OK was that Ryan? Do we think he's going on Paradise? #TheBachelorette." "Ryan better be in paradise #thebachelorette," seconded a fan.

'The Bachelorette' Season 19 airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC.
