'The 100' Season 7 Episode 2: Octavia's letter to Bellamy makes fans emotional, reminds them of Clarke's call
Spoilers for 'The 100' Season 7 Episode 2 'The Garden'
When it came to sibling relationships on 'The 100' on The CW, they were rare, after all, the Ark forbade more than one child and it's what led to the Blake siblings' mother to be floated. However, Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) and Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeopoulos) have had one of the most endearing relationships on the show. Over the past six seasons, we have seen how Bellamy's overprotective nature and Octavia's struggle to be her own person have interfered with their once-perfect relationship. But despite all the tiffs, no one could deny they cared deeply for one another.
That is, until Season 5 when Octavia's transformation into Bloodreina ruined their relationship. In fact, though we see both characters start to mend their relationship, we still have not seen both of them reconcile in a way we would like to. Just when we thought Octavia would be able to go back to Sanctum using the suit she found, Charmaine Diyoza (Ivana Milicevic) destroyed it. Octavia cries and tells Diyoza that she finally understands Bellamy wanting to protect her -- breaking all our hearts. Since she does not think she can see Bellamy again, Octavia then writes a letter to her brother and if we weren't crying before, we were now.
Fans also appreciated the scenes, seeing Octavia redeem herself. One fan tweeted, "This is a vulnerability we have never really seen from Octavia. She finally understands where Bellamy was coming from all those years. That’s a huge revelation." Another wrote, "Octavia reading her letter literally made me cry i dont know what to do with myself i know the blakes will reunite but i really JUST MISS THEM TOGETHER."
One viewer tweeted, "Octavia sending a message in a bottle to bellamy. 'i have hope. diyoza’s a pain in the ass but i love her. like i love you.' my HEART #the100," while another wrote, "THE LETTER OCTAVIA WROTE TO BELLAMY MADE MY HEART SWELL #THE100."
Fans also found parallels between Octavia's letter to Bellamy from Skyring and Clarke Griffin's (Eliza Taylor) radio messages to Bellamy at the beginning of Season 5. One fan wrote, "Omg just saw a tweet and it made me realize... octavia writing the letter is like clarke radioing. i wonder if bellamy will be able to see their memories of them doing this."
Another fan tweeted, "So, Octavia has been on SkyRing for 6 years waiting for Bellamy and writes him a letter hoping he gets the message?! Parallels anyone? #The100," while another tweeted, "Octavia’s letter to Bellamy gave me serious Clarke’s Radio Calls Circa Season 5 vibes and I’m crying but it’s FINE."
One fan tweeted, "That letter from Octavia tho? Oh the heaviness if Bellamy does end up finding that and reading it, his reaction is gonna be quite something. Whether I'm able to handle it is another story." Another wrote, "Octavia saying goodbye to Bellamy IN EPISODE TWO, had BETTER NOT freaking mean they don’t get a REAL goodbye. (Either way, I put money on O dying and Bellamy finding that letter afterward.)"
A fan wrote, "#The100 yes I'm on Team Let Bellamy and Octavia Reunite and Understand Each Other's Mistakes and Struggles for Redemption* *and neither of them end up dead after."
