'The 100' Season 7 Episode 14: After Bellamy, fans bid goodbye to Gabriel but say 'he deserved better'
Spoilers for ‘The 100’ Season 7 Episode 14 'A Sort of Homecoming'
This episode of The CW's post-apocalypse series not only saw the hunt for Madi (Lola Flannery) but also saw the entire crew — excluding the dead Bellamy Blake (Bob Morley) of course — back on Earth. While Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) initially wanted to stay on Earth since everyone she cared about was with her and she didn't want to lose more people, she quickly changed her mind when Bill Cadogan (John Pyper-Ferguson) sent an invisible Sheidheda (JR Bourne) to Earth to get Maddi to Bardo.
Apparently, she is the "key to human transcendence" and also has the memory of the commander. Unfortunately, Clarke had broken the helmet at the start of the episode determined to leave Sanctum and its people behind and Raven was not able to fix it. At that time, Sheidheda was able to find Madi who was playing the piano with Gabriel Santiago (Chuku Modu) in the Rec room.
Since this is the final season, many fans are expecting more deaths especially since the unceremonious death of one of the iconic leads on the show last episode, Bellamy. This time, they said goodbye to Gabriel — the man who had destroyed the flame in the last episode.
"You deserved better, you were a genius, incredible and sweet, your sacrifice saved madi, thank you doctor gabriel santiago and may we meet again! #The100," wrote one fan.

After Cadogan and Sheidheda struck a deal to work together, Madi was in imminent danger but had the entire group to protect her. This was also the episode that Clarke had to reveal to everyone that she had shot Bellamy and while Echo (Tasya Teles) and Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos) forgave Clarke, Madi was over the fact that so many people are losing their lives because Clarke wants to protect her.
If you recall, Clarke shot Bellamy because he got a hold of Madi's sketchbook which proves she had the memory of the commander. Now, the book was in Cadogan's hands and their hunt for Madi seems to have worked in their favor. As Sheidheda closed in on Madi, he stabbed Gabriel.
"I'm so sorry gabriel, you deserve better. #The100," wrote one fan. Another tweeted, "Welp - now Gabriel!? Ugh, I hate/live this show. All kind of wrecked though, my heart @The100 @The100S7 @cwthe100 @The100writers #The100 #the100season7 #The100S7"

"He died a hero. he died being loved. he deserved better. he was a comforting character to many of us and he will never be forgotten. you were my number one, Gabriel Santiago. may we meet again. #GabrielSantiagoDeservedBetter #The100," tweeted yet another heartbroken fan.

After Gaia (Tati Gabrielle) and her mother Indra (Adina Porter) were unable to defeat Sheidheda, Sheidheda stabbed himself and disappeared presumably back to Bardo. Madi heard Octavia say that Cadogan will just send more disciples and time was running out for the group to find their way back to Sanctum since the helmet was broken by Clarke.
As Madi went on to stab herself as Sheidheda did to save the group from more trouble, no one was able to save Gabriel and he ended up dying with his friends around him. This is how #the100 lost yet another character in its final season and yet again, like Bellamy, for no reason since Madi decided to take matters into her own hands and present herself to Cadogan anyway. It seems with all these deaths, fans are expecting an increasing body count from now on.
"My faves were Bellamy, Octavia, Diyoza, Gabriel and Memori. Bellamy, Diyoza and Gabriel are dead. Who's gonna die next week? #The100," wrote one fan. Another wrote, "May we meet again Gabriel #The100 #the100season7 #los100."
