For almost half the season now, ‘Tell Me A Story’ Season 2 has been focusing on the Pruitt family. So much so that we are on the verge of forgetting the other family very prominent in the plot, the Garland family. So far, Simone has been a mysterious character, quite like Cinderella herself.

When Simone met Jackson (the second child of the Pruitt family), she has been very discreet about who she is and where she comes from. Gradually, however, she reveals herself to her new love interest (or a casual fling?). Simone reveals her identity as the daughter and legitimate heir of the Garland family, who has recently lost her father. Simone comes across as a bold, strong, woman but someone who is also strategic in her decisions. She has been trying to mend the fences between her stepmother (Veronica), stepbrothers (Ron and Derek) and herself. But when she realizes that they have very smoothly cast her out of her father’s will, Simone gets desperate to claim her rights and get even with the ‘steps’.

Simone takes Jackson’s help and discovers a videotape that shows her stepmom having an affair. Perhaps, her father caught a whiff of his wife’s infidelity and put her under the scanner of a private eye. At least that’s how the videotape looks like. But as luck would have it, Simone and Jackson somehow get caught red-handed and this perhaps ticks off Simone all the more. She devises a plan with Jackson to confront her stepmother.

Driven by regret, anger, and heartbreak of losing her father, Simone does not flinch to put her life at risk to uncover her family’s dark secret and expose the woman who she thinks killed her father.

Simone makes her way through a gala and faces Veronica. We were thinking all this while that Simone is anything but a desperate girl, who would take such a loose step. But she did. She faces Veronica, accuses her of murdering her father in cold blood and threatens to expose her. And then she vanishes, much like Cinderella. That particular shot, where Jackson finds one of her stilettos, is quite clichéd and bears direct reference to the fairy tale as the show intends to. However, our focus still remains on Simone’s intentions.

After going through all the trouble to bring her father’s death to light and expose Veronica, if Simone gets in trouble, her entire plan could go to waste. We wonder if Simone will be finally able to get the truth out on her father’s death. And if yes, what is the price she will end up paying?

‘Tell Me A Story’ Season 2 airs every Thursday 12 am, only on CBS All Access.
