Even as the feverish anticipation builds for the remaining batch of episodes for the final season of 'The Walking Dead', the latest spin-off from the zombie horror franchise titled 'Tales of The Walking Dead' continues to gather steam. The anthology series is all set to release in August and is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The series is the latest after 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' and is the fourth show within the TWD franchise.

Scott M Gimple and Channing Powell serve as the creators and executive producers, and the show will feature big names in Olivia Munn and Terry Crews. Michael E Satrazemis, who directed several of the TWD and 'Fear the Walking Dead' episodes helmed three of the six episodes with Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Tara Nicole Weyr directed the other three. Ahead of the much-awaited series, here's everything you need to know.

When will 'Tales of The Walking Dead' be released and where you can watch it?

The 'Tales of The Walking Dead' is set to release on August 14 on AMC. The six-episode first season drops weekly with a part 2 releasing soon after.

What is the plot of 'Tales of The Walking Dead'?

The official synopsis reads, "The series is an episodic anthology that will follow individual characters from the The Walking Dead TV universe, both new and old." Fans will be particularly keen to see more of Samantha Morton's Alpha who was one of the central characters in 'The Walking Dead' Season 10. She was killed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan in Episode 12 'Walk With Us'.

In the comics, Alpha's death comes much earlier. So this episode may have not surprised fans who have already read Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's comic book series. She is killed after the heads-on-spikes situation and before the hype of the Whisperer War. What holds true in both the comic and TV universe is that Alpha is killed by Negan. This would mean the anthology show would probably serve as a prequel to some of the character's arcs.

What is the latest buzz around 'Tales of The Walking Dead'?

Much of the buzz around 'Tales of The Walking Dead' centers around the Hall H panel they have in this year's San Diego Comic-Con. This holds even for 'The Walking Dead' which will cap off its run with Season 11. With eight episodes left in the season, the show will focus on Aaron (Ross Marquand), Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), Daryl (Norman Reedus), and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) going up against the Commonwealth and will see Hornsby (Josh Hamilton) exact his rage against the group. Meanwhile, Connie (Lauren Ridloff) and her group have uncovered some dirt on Governor Milton (Laila Robins) and her son Sebastian (Teo Rapp-Olsson).
