Is Xscape still together?

The group came back together in 2017 at the BET Awards, after 19 years of the feud. The group of four girls was expected to be seen on a tour and new music. However, Kandi announced that the tour and music will happen without her presence. She claimed her acting career to be the reason for her departure from Scape. Indeed the group of four slashed down to three, calling themselves Xscap3 in 2018. They even created their own record label named after the group of three. Well, the group couldn't stay away for too long. In 2021, Kani reconnected with the group for a Verzus episode. Well, the group seems to have got past all the drama. They have come back stronger in 2023. According to Vivid Seats reports, Xscape has become one of the top R&B artists in the 2023 music scene. They are packed with 4 concerts in the upcoming months.

Why did Xscape break up?

There were talks all around the internet that Xscape's fallout was because of songwriter and producer Jermaine Dupri. Distractify reported Jermaine explaining the reason of the breakup, saying, "Xscape was Tocha’s (LaTocha Scott) group. Whoever’s a group it is, that means they think they’re the lead singer." He further added, "They meet Jermaine Dupri, and Jermaine Dupri writes a song and he gives the song to Kandi because Kandi’s voice sounds like mine. It’s no other reason that I gave it to her besides the fact that I wanted her to sing the way I was having T-Boz sing. That created friction from jump." Indeed, Jermaine giving Kandi songs to sing instead of LaTocha became the major reason for their split. Jermaine was reported to have a romantic relationship with Kandi that could have allegedly made him biased towards her. Back then, Xscape members accused Kandi of favoritism and sleeping her way to the top. Well, this was one of the many reasons for the break of the Xscape. After they reunited, we saw Kandi and LaTocha feuding over their blue carpet dress.

Now, all four members are coming back together for a limited series. 'SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B' is scheduled to release on March 5 at 9.30/8.30 c on Bravo.
