Who is Kandi Burruss?

The producer, television personality, and singer was born in College Park, Georgia. She met LaTocha Scott's sister Tamika at Tri-Cities in East Point, Georgia. At the time, Scott had been performing with a group called Precise. The three soon began singing together and eventually formed Xscape. After the XS's major debut performance at BET's Teen Summit in 1992, the girls were introduced to record executive Ian Burke, who later became the group's manager.

Xscape soon caught the attention of Jermaine Dupri, who later signed the group to his recording label So So Def Recordings. After the disbanding of Xscape, Burruss focused on production and songwriting. In 1999, Burruss co-wrote, along with Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, three major hit songs: 'No Scrubs' for TLC, 'Bills, Bills, Bills' for Destiny's Child, and 'There You Go', Pink's debut single. Burruss rewrote and executive produced the 2009 song 'Tardy for the Party' for her 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' co-star Kim Zolciak. Following a hiatus from music, Burruss released her first EP, 'Fly Above, on October 29, 2009.

What are Kandi's other ventures?

Burruss revealed her much more risqué edge, openly discussing her own sexual proclivities on her online-turned-television talk show, 'Kandi Koated Nights'. While some of her cast mates found her bawdry candor to be crossing the line, Burress turned her passion into a gold mine by launching her own line of sex toys called Bedroom Kandi.

Founded in 2011 with the help of toy makers Brian and Suki Danham, the brand sells everything from mild relaxation creams to some of the wildest bedroom essentials. Bedroom Kandi not only allows women to take advantage of their sensual side but also encourages loyal customers to become consultants, allowing them to join the power of business. According to Forbes, Bedroom Kandi employs more than 2,500 consultants to help sell products and attend meetings to boost sales.
