‘SWAT’ Season 4 Episode 2 ‘Stakeout’: Can Hondo and Nichelle give love another chance or is it too late?

Nichelle has moved on... and has found another guy. But will she get back together with Hondo and give him a second chance sometime later?

Action and emotions go hand-in-hand in ‘SWAT’. If the first episode ‘3 Seventeen Year Olds’ conveyed the powerful message behind the Black Lives Matter movement after George Floyd's death, the second episode ‘Stakeout’ brings exes Hondo (Shemar Moore) and Nichelle (Rochelle Aytes) face to face. Meeting for the first time since their breakup, the two are awkward and it's clear Hondo still has feelings for her. But can the two give love another chance? 

As the episode begins, the SWAT team acts as a domestic surveillance unit for the CIA to confirm whether an international crime lord has resurfaced in Los Angeles after being off-grid for years. Meanwhile, Tan's mother, Chan Fei (Susan Chuang), is a victim of racial discrimination. However, the focus of the episode remains on Nichelle and Hondo's camaraderie.

Steering the topic back to how they left many things unsaid, Hondo lays his heart on the table and confesses he didn't handle their relationship well. But, Nichelle has moved on... and has found another guy. The good thing, however, is that after Nichelle left, it gave Hondo a chance to look at his life in retrospect. What's more, he is also ready to put a stop to one-night stands and booty calls and look forward to a lasting relationship, thanks to her!and hopefully, he made things right between them.

For now, things look good between them but it doesn't seem like the two are getting back together. Executive producer Aaron Rahsaan Thomas told TV Line, "Nichelle went off to work on youth centers, but we really loved the chemistry between the two of them. Nichelle will come back into Hondo’s life, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going to be romantic."

"Hondo has some things that he still has to figure out on the personal side before he’s really ready to be in a committed relationship again. The two of them, they’re in a unique position in that you have Nichelle who works at a community center and you have Hondo who is a police officer — and in the year 2020, they may have different opinions on certain topics. He needs to earn that friendship back and it’s really going to test Hondo in a way that we don’t normally see."

While Thomas seems to have dismissed the idea of seeing them as a couple again, fans still have their fingers crossed. In fact, Thomas triggered it a little more by asking that question. "Hondo and Nichelle. Do we want them to get back together?" he posted on Twitter. "So Nichelle and Hondo broke up but they still have great chemistry and they still connect with they need help. Y’all working my nerves writers," one said and another posted, "Yes we want them together. Hondo deserves love too. And they are good together. He just got scared. #SWAT #RollSWAT Nichelle hear him out girl."

A third chimed in, "I understand why Hondo doesn't want to ruin things with Nichelle. I want to find out what happens next between those two, but maybe it seems that they're finding different paths? Gosh, this is Juicy! Or should I say, Juicaaayyyyy! #SWAT." A user said, "I really hope that wasn’t closure. I want Hondo and Nichelle endgame!! #SWAT #SwatCBS."

Never say never... we may actually see them solving all their past issues and coming back together sometime later. Don't you want that too? 

The second part of the two-hour fourth season premiere of ‘SWAT’ aired on Wednesday, November 11 from 10-11 pm ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
