'Supernatural' Season 15 Episode 3: 'The Rupture' may not kill everyone, but Rowena may finally bite the dust
Rowena (Ruth Connell) has lived a really long life, during which she escaped death many times over, even at the hands of Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) — twice!
However, her time may have finally come to die once and for all, at least in the 'Supernatural' context. Hell is spitting out ghosts left, right and center, so we might as well see her in her translucent form in post-death, but death itself seems imminent.
Even though we were introduced to her during one of her more evil phases, we have come to love Rowena over the years.
She has become a strong and reliable ally to the Winchesters, and in the previously aired Season 15 Episode 2 of the series, it was her magic that actually helped them defeat the spirits who were expelled from Hell.
Especially after her son Crowley's (Mark Sheppard) death, she has become more prone to fighting for the good guys, even if she may employ some selfish measures to assure her sustenance.
From the trailer for the upcoming Season 15 Episode 3 of 'Supernatural' though, it seems like she has become a more selfless human, putting everyone else above herself.
We see her asking Sam (Jared Padalecki), "Will you let the world die, just so I can live?" Team Winchester is seemingly losing the battle against God (Rob Benedict), and Rowena's magic requires some form of sacrifice that she seems to be volunteering for.
Long ago, during one of their battles against Lucifer ('Funeralia' — Season 13, Episode 19) she told Sam "I am a flawed, petty, evil creature, Samuel, and I don't know if I can be redeemed. But I have to try."
Well, from what we are seeing from the trailer for 'The Rupture', she has more than redeemed herself. If this really is goodbye, we hope she knows how valuable her sacrifice is, and we hope she gets reunited with her son, even if it happens in Hell.
Whether Rowena finally bites the dust or not, Season 15 Episode 3 of 'Supernatural' is going to put a lot of focus on the centuries-old witch and we are so ready for it. Don't forget to watch 'The Rupture' on Wednesday night on The CW.
