ABC’s ‘Supermarket Sweep’ is a reboot of the '60s classic game show that follows three pairs of contestants where they battle it out using their grocery shopping skills and knowledge of merchandise to win big cash prizes.

For the latest episode of ‘Supermarket Sweep’, we had newly engaged couple, Eric and Paul, under Team Meat and Potatoes. Eric is a firefighter and his fiance is vegan, so when they say “meat” they mean “smoked tofu”. Next was Team Mushrooms that consisted of best friends Drew and Richard. They love sauteed mushrooms with garlic and so does host Leslie Jones.

Team Sweet-pea had a mother and daughter duo, Peggy and Jessica. They confessed they loved Host Leslie more than anything and once they booked tickets and went to an award show just for the fact that Leslie was hosting it. Leslie was overwhelmed as she said, “You guys made my day.”

The first round began with smaller sweeps in the game show. The smaller sweeps consist of riddle games where the contestants try to guess the name of the grocery item through multiple hints and clues. The team members play the smaller sweeps individually by taking turns. One game required them to guess the fruit popping up on the screen with minimum hints.

Another game consisted of jumble words that the team members were required to make sense out of and guess which grocery items they were. By the end of the smaller sweeps, Team Meat and Potatoes were in the lead.

For the big sweep, each team was asked to go shopping for the items Leslie needs. The team that secures the highest amount by the end of the game would go on to the final sweep to play for the grand prize of $100,000. Team Sweet-pea managed to secure $1,872, which wasn’t bad given the fact they didn’t win any bonus points. Team Meat and Potatoes racked up $3,507 and Mushroom earns $3,246.

The other teams bid Leslie goodbye and Team Meat and Potatoes went to the final round. Unfortunately for Team Meat and Potatoes, they couldn’t guess one of the initial riddles that would have won them $25,000 and went home with the money they had previously won.

Catch ‘Supermarket Sweep’ every Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.
