The Garniers are so tightly knit as a family that they are ready to fight any number of odds and go against the rest of the world to protect one another.

While the sudden appearance of Clara Ivaldi (Manon Azem) nearly 25 years after her abduction has come across as puzzling for a few of her newfound family members, the rest continue to remain suspicious about her true identity.

As seen previously, Yann Guilbert gets shot at while trying to save Clara. Episode 5 of 'The Red Shadows' begins with Clara desperately calling out for help to save her father, only to realize that he is reluctant about approaching the cops, despite being on the verge of losing his life.

When Clara tries to comprehend the recent attack on her, she also wonders why her father, who she thought was dead for three months, had a gun on him. Meanwhile, Julien reveals that Guilbert is not her father and only raised her because he was guilty of being involved in her abduction with Baptisti.

Meanwhile, Aurore Garnier (Nadia Farès) learns more and more about Baptisti's wrongdoings. Unfortunately, her hands are tied because even the last evidence against him has gone missing and all they have is dead Guilbert's last statement to act against Baptisti, which doesn't suffice.

Aurore goes looking for Guilbert only to find him dead in his car due to internal bleeding, thus losing the only evidence that could have helped her stop Baptisti.

Meanwhile, Thelma Garnier (Eden Ducourant) is seen approaching her grandmother for help as the cops are hell-bent on tracking Challan's killer. Her grandmother assures that she would protect Thelma and asks her to leverage Felix and Hugo's freedom for her own. Thelma agrees to do as told.

When Aurore approaches Frédéric (Raphaël Lenglet) hoping he can help her with the uphill battle against Baptisti, she realizes that the culprit has a stronger hold on her brothers than she ever imagined. When a vulnerable Frédéric attempts to make a big revelation about his life, he's deliberately interrupted by their grandfather.

Irked by Romain's behavior, Jeanne Forand (Héléna Soubeyrand) calls Aurore home to turn her against her husband by disclosing his discreet relationship with Baptisti. But her plan fails terribly as Aurore knows that Jeanne is the one who erased the age-old evidence against Baptisti from the department.

The episode ends with a major cliffhanger as Aurore collapses on the ground from a gunshot that Jeanne fires at her. It remains to be seen in the upcoming episodes what other dirty secrets the Garniers have been hiding in their perfect lives.

'The Red Shadows' airs on Thursdays on Sundance Now.
