'Stumptown' Episode 9: Where does 'Dex Education' leave Grey? And will he now declare his love for his best friend?

The show is expected to address Grey's feelings for Dex when 'Stumptown' returns with Episode 10 on ABC in 2020

Well, 'Stumptown' winter finale was like nothing we expected, and yet, it kind of was.

The episode, which picked up exactly where last week's Episode 8 left off, showed us right off the bat that Dex (Cobie Smulders) has no recollection of what happened the previous night. While she is trying to piece everything together, she asks Liz (Monica Barbaro) to keep things on the down-low. She tries to go about her day as if everything is normal, and yet she is ridden with guilt and confusion.

However, we see Liz manipulating the story and narrating it to Grey (Jake Johnson), who is understandably mad at his best friend. He wonders why Dex would ruin the first good relationship he has had in a long time, and even accuses Dex of being addicted to chaos. They have a major fallout after which Dex is forced to prove that Liz orchestrated the whole thing and that they did not, in fact, sleep together.

Despite apologizing to Grey for what she did, Liz tries to pin her actions as a direct result of Grey's deep friendship with Dex. He asks her pack up, of course, but not before the seed of what Liz said is sowed in his brain. He seems to realize that Liz is partially correct, in that no one woman would be able to get close to him, as long as Dex is in his life.

However, instead of seeing that as a bad thing, he seems to have come to the conclusion that he needs to be with Dex romantically.

Meanwhile, the other man hurt by Dex's apparent cheating, Miles (Michael Ealy), also came to a conclusion of his own. Heeding to the advice of his work friend, Miles decides to stop pretending Dex's actions did not hurt him, and instead accept that he wants a serious and exclusive relationship with Dex. He visits her at her home to convey as much, and as he is let in by Dex, we see Grey in his car, watching as he realizes that the timing may not be the best for him to declare his undying love for Dex.

However, we are certainly happy that he has been brought to his senses by these events because we are hopeful for the show to address Grey's feelings for Dex when 'Stumptown' returns with Episode 10 on ABC in 2020.
