We all knew that some of the major characters from the ‘Stranger Things’ universe will be biting the dust in the final two episodes of Season 4 and they hurt us a lot. However, the death of one specific character shocked everyone and made viewers really upset. Yes, we are talking about the death of Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), and even saying that is making us feel really sad.

In the final episode of Season 4, we saw Eddie being the hero and helping his friends so that they can kill Vecna and survive. When he realized his friends might be in danger from the vicious bats living in the Upside Down, he takes the decision of not returning to the real world and distracts the bats once again by running outside. The bats follow him and Eddie, like a true hero, fights all of them. By seeing this, Dustin also comes back to the Upside Down and runs toward Eddie who is fighting these bats.

However, it’s too late for Dustin to do anything because Eddie has now been attacked by the bats and they are hurting him. When Murray uses the flamethrower on Demogorgons in Russia, the bats die instantly. It happens because particles of Mind Flayer were inside the Demogorgons and as soon as Mind Flayer was destroyed, the bats also died. Even though the bats died, Eddie could not be saved because he was severely injured.

Despite only being introduced earlier in the season, Eddie very quickly became one of the most-loved characters in the show. That’s why fans are so devastated about his fate. One of the fans wrote, “Eddie’s death was too painful to watch. And the worst part after his death was he’s still labeled as the bad guy of the town.” Another fan wrote, “No other character death has ever hit like this. Gaten and Joe’s performances here had me in pain sobbing.” Another social media user wrote, “NEVER HAVE I WANTED TO CRY SO BAD FOR A CHARACTERS DEATH BRO.” Another fan tweeted, “Eddie Munson will always remain as one of the most loved characters from all stranger things seasons.”

On the other hand, some viewers were disappointed by how the Duffer brothers chose to portray Eddie’s death. In particular, the fact that he never got to prove his innocence in front of the world in Chrissy Cunningham’s murder investigation is why the viewers have criticized the Duffer brothers for Eddie’s shocking demise.

A Twitter user said, “This is why I hate Eddie's death. The whole town hated him, they are so relieved that he is presumed dead and they even started doodling on his missing person poster without knowing that he sacrifices himself for them. EDDIE MUNSON DESERVED A RESPECT.” Another fan wrote, “Eddie Munson deserved to have people be sad over his death. I hate the fact that because of the time jump we didn't get to see Robin, Steve, and Nancy's reactions. He died to help them yet the only people who talked about his death are his uncle and Dustin. This is so unfair.”

“You mean, Eddie Munson died without proving his innocence and the people of Hawkins still see him as a murderer and not a hero??? My man deserves better,” said another one.

Eddie gave viewers one of the epic moments in the show’s history when he took out his guitar and played ‘Master of Puppets’ to distract Demobats in the Upside Down. It was a heroic death for Eddie and we hope to see him in flashbacks in the upcoming episodes.

'Stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
