LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stephen Colbert took a humorous jab at the meeting between President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping in a recent episode of his late-night show. The comedian characterized the high-level diplomatic exchange as a "case of he said, she said."

The rendezvous between the leaders of the two global powerhouses took place at the historic Filoli House & Garden in Woodside on Wednesday, November 15.

Following this significant encounter, Biden had reportedly planned to conduct a standalone press conference. The primary objective of this meeting and subsequent press interaction was to foster better ties between the two largest economies in the world, per CBS

Yet, Colbert has managed to pinpoint a humorous aspect to poke fun at the grand meeting between Biden and Xi. The caption on X read, "President Biden and President Xi met for the first time in a year to gab about fun topics like…"

Colbert, known for his satirical commentary, didn't hold back when it came to the Biden-Xi meeting. He said, "President Joseph robinett Biden is in San Francisco today meeting with Chinese president xiin ping in the first conversation between the two leaders in a year."

"A year," the host exclaimed. "They'll have so much to talk about. Trade tensions global flash points who got hot over the summer, spoiler alert neither of them."

Colbert went on and said, "Now before the meeting both sides tried to play it cool and set expectations low," and continued, "In fact both countries said that whatever happened both Biden and she would not put out a joint statement after the meeting so it's just going to be a case of he said she said."

The host later addressed China’s economy, stating that the largest country has a valid reason to engage with America and its wealth. Over the past few years, China’s economy has been grappling with sluggish consumer spending and high youth unemployment.

He humorously remarked that the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that "even second graders can't get a job at the iPhone Factory."

The two nations, recognized as the largest contributors to global carbon emissions, concurred on implementing additional strategies to combat climate change. However, they refrained from pledging to completely cease the utilization of fossil fuels.

They committed to collaborate in reducing methane emissions, a greenhouse gas known for its high potency, and pledged their support to worldwide initiatives aimed at tripling the production of renewable energy by 2030.

Both parties agreed to join forces in combating drug trafficking, with China consenting to impose stricter regulations on chemical companies. This move is intended to curb the influx of illicit fentanyl into the US, a factor contributing to the surge in overdose fatalities.

The countries also consented to reestablish military communication, a measure that was a top priority for the Americans. Post-meeting, Xi insinuated that Beijing is considering the possibility of dispatching additional pandas to zoos in the US, per BBC
