'Star Trek: Picard' Season 1 Episode 6 Preview: Picard to visit haunting memories of himself as Locutus
In the previous episode of 'Star Trek: Picard', we saw Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his new crew head over to Freecloud to look for Bruce Maddox. What started light-hearted and cheery, however, ended on a rather sombre and worrying note. Dr Jurati put an end to her ex-lover in a rather dramatic way, for reasons we are still to discover. Seven Of Nine (Jeri Ryan) returned for her pound of flesh and exacted bloody revenge on those who had killed her 'son' Icheb.
The midpoint of the season has been crossed, and things are going to get deadlier and more dangerous for our crew. The official synopsis of the sixth episode 'The Impossible Box', reads, "Picard and the crew track Soji to the Borg cube in Romulan space, resurfacing haunting memories for Picard. Meanwhile, Narek believes he finally found a way to safely exploit Soji for information."
In all probability, Picard will finally meet Data's second 'daughter', Soji (Isa Briones). Her 'sister' Dahj was killed off in the first episode itself, which put Picard on this perilous quest. Picard is going to have some unpleasant flashbacks about his time as Locutus of Borg.
In 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', the Borg wanted to use Picard as a spokesperson for the entire human race so that they could assimilate the Earth. The Borg queen had wanted him to be her counterpart. Fortunately, the Enterprise crew were able to rescue Locutus and used his link to disable and destroy the Borg vessel by sending the Borg cube a command to regenerate, creating a loop, which destroyed the cube and cut off Picard's link to the collective.
The next few episodes promise to be action-packed and exciting, and we might get some more answers to many burning questions.
'Star Trek: Picard' drops on CBS All Access, Thursdays at 12:01 am.
