'Star Trek: Lower Decks' premiered on Thursday, August 6 and it's already quite a hit with the fans. The series, focusing on the less important, and less-storied parts of life on a Federation ship, has won the hearts of 'Star Trek' fans everywhere. Packed with hilarity, and rapid-fire hijinks, the fans took to social media to express their love for the new series in no uncertain terms.

"I found the first episode of #LowerDecks to be absolutely fantastic, it was so much fun. I just know this is going to be a loved series, it's a much welcome addition to the franchise," wrote a fan, who already has their favorite character picked out. "P.S. I can't wait to see more Lt. Shax, he's sure to be a fave," the fan added.

"I think Lower Decks is my new favorite show as of the past half hour," wrote another fan.

Meanwhile, other fans are making sure everyone they know tunes in to watch the series as well. "Pls go watch lower decks!!! The first episode just came out and it was sooooooo good I am already in love with this show! The humor is great the characters are so lovable and the animation is *chefs kiss*," wrote another viewer.

"#StarTrekLowerDecks is a work of utter hilarity and genius. It's got sharp wit, Starfleet spirit, and the most highly efficient Lower Decks crew on ANY Trek show. Forget what you think you know about this show and its characters from the trailers, it will surprise you!" wrote another fan.

Some fans pointed out how much they recognized and appreciated the fact that the show is written by those who bear great love for the 'Star Trek' franchise. One user wrote, "I have now watched #LowerDecks twice, and....maybe I kind of love it? Only one episode in, but it's already real fun and clearly comes from writers who have a deep appreciation of the Star Trek universe. Star Trek could use more shenanigans. Looks like this show will provide."

Others claimed that this is exactly the kind of show they've been waiting on for years, with one viewer writing, "I just watched the first episode of @StarTrek #LowerDecks on @CBSAllAccess and it's everything I've innately wanted for years. This was a very good launch. Super excited for episode 2."

All in all, it's safe to say that the series has started with a bang, and not just because Ensign Boimler (Jack Quaid) couldn't get the replicator to stop shooting out hot bananas. The series is off to a strong start, and the fans can't wait for more.

The next episode of 'Star Trek: Lower Decks' airs August 13 on CBS All Access.
