It was a year filled with 'Star Trek', as January 2020 started the trend with 'Star Trek: Picard', followed by 'Star Trek: Lower Decks'. The third season of 'Star Trek: Discovery' released in October and it was a wild ride alright. The season just ended on a happy note, and fans cannot wait for the fourth season. Though there are no cliffhangers or spoilers as such, Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) emerges as the Captain of Discovery, something fans have been waiting to see since the beginning of the series. Burnham went through a windmill this season, and found love along the way, too with Book (David Ajala), while trying to puzzle the mysteries of the peculiar Burn.

Burnham is the heart of the show, no doubt, as all storylines involve her as fans constantly point out. And now, she is the captain, which is surprising, because Burnham usually has a habit of doing the wrong thing for the right cause. She an issue with facing authority, and she has constantly bent the rules of Starfleet. Hark back to the days she was responsible for a mutiny aboard the Shenzhou after a conflict with Captain Georgiou about the best way to approach contact with the Klingons. She was even tried and convicted for mutiny after the event, becoming the first-ever Starfleet officer to be court-martialed for the offense at the time. However, she got her second chance when she joined the USS Discovery, though she bent and broke the rules throughout Season 1. She was a little more sedate in Season 1, but her flouting-authority issue returned with a vengeance in Season 3. Yet, Burnham has done only good for people and is a caring soul, and is the only one who somehow goes through to Georgiou.

It's always with everyone's best interests at heart, and somehow her risks, more often than not, pay off. She has proved her mettle infinitely and even took down Osyraa, who had infiltrated Discovery for her nefarious purposes. They engaged in an epic showdown, with Burnham as the victor.

However, still needs to mend her relationship with Stamets, and this rift might carry on to the next season.

'Star Trek: Discovery' is a CBS-All Access show.
