'Songland' episode 8: Leona Lewis selects Rozee's song 'Somebody to Love' as her next hit and fans are all for it

After the news of Leona picking Rozee's song 'Somebody to Love' was revealed, fans took to Twitter to reveal how they love Leona's choice especially because of the beat the song has. 

'Songland' returned on Wednesday night to take us on a brand new songwriting journey with Grammy Award-winning singer Leona Lewis as the featured artist of the week.  Airing with episode eight on Wednesday night after America's Got Talent season 14, Songland returned with UK X-Factor season 3 winner  Lewis in the judges' seat. Also part of the panel were judges/mentors Ryan Tedder, Shane McAnally, and Ester Dean. Lewis had her mind set on choosing a song that would speak of all emotions and her request made the task even more difficult for the competing songwriters - Olivia Lane, Rozee, Rafferty and  Annabel Lee.

Olivia performed her original song Perfect Skin, Rozee sang 'Fighting For Us', Rafferty performed 'A Heart Full of Love' while Annabel sang 'Ugliest Love'. After listening to all four songwriters perform their song, the judges and Leona eliminated Annabel, as her song was not suitable to what Leona was looking for. Moving on to the final round were Oliva, Rozee, and Rafferty. The final contestants were paired with one judge each who mentored them by making the desired changes to their songs in terms of tempo, lyrics or tune. 

Rozee was mentored by Ryan who helped her add some beat to the song and also included a Spanish rap. Her song had a massive transformation and she seemed to like it. Rafferty was mentored by Shane who helped him make it more vulnerable. Olivia was mentored by Ester who joined along with Leona on facetime to make the narrative much stronger, they also added some melodies.  After the judges were done mentoring the contestants, they each performed their song one last time for Leona. Olivia's song name remained unchanged, while Rozee's was titled Solo Quiero (Somebody to Love) and Rafferty's was changed to 'When You Fall In Love'. After listening to them perform the fine-tuned versions of their song, it was time to pick a winner. 

Leona chose Rozee's song, 'Solo Quiero (Somebody to Love)' as her new song. She revealed that she chose Rozee's song because it “speaks to my Carribean roots”. She loved that it has the international feel to it. "Surprised she didn’t go with “Heart Full of Love”—only cause this doesn’t *really* have that much singing—but it’s catchy as hell, & I’ll bump it at a party! Congrats to @rozee_official," a fan on Twitter wrote.  Adding to that another fan said, "NOT even enough excellent adjectives to describe how much I love the beat-lyrics-rhythm of #SomebodyToLove. #Songland." "Loving it. I can't help but bounce and/or move when I hear the lyrics and beats. Great job! Can't wait to dance anywhere to that song." said another fan appreciating the song selection.
