What is the plot of 'Society of the Snow'?
'Society of the Snow' is based on the Uruguayan 1972 Andes flight crash. A chartered flight carrying 45 passengers from Montevideo, Uruguay, to Santiago, Chile, crashed in the Andes mountains on October 13, 1972.

The irreversible mistakes of a co-pilot followed by a deadly crash claimed several lives. Out of 45 passengers and crew, 19 of them were the members of Old Christians Club rugby union team.
During 72 days after the crash, the survivors faced extreme hardships including starvation and avalanches. Several passengers resorted to cannibalism to survive.
When the weather improved, two of the survivors climbed a 15,260 ft mountain peak without any mountaineering gear and hiked for ten days to seek help.
After more than two months after the crash, sixteen remaining survivors were rescued. Their survival saga made headlines worldwide.
