'Snowpiercer' Episode 7 Preview: Layton has everything he needs to destroy Melanie, but will she get him first?
TNT's 'Snowpiercer' Season 1 is nearing the end of the line but things are definitely going to get a lot worse before they get better. After his escape from the drawers, Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) is preparing to unleash the specter of revolution on the train and Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) is hellbent on stopping him before he can reveal her secrets to the rest of the passengers.
Third Class was already beginning to resent Melanie and the authorities after the sham trial of LJ Folger (Annalise Basso), but in Episode 6 'Trouble Comes Sideways', their attempts to go on strike were crushed after an engineering problem threatened to derail the whole train. But with Layton out and about, it might not be long before they are swayed to join the Tail's revolution.
Layton now has two major weapons to use against Melanie: Firstly, Mr Wilford isn't on the train and Melanie's just been lying about his presence to manipulate everyone and secondly, she's been secretly trying to turn the drawers into suspended animation chambers to keep the most essential people alive in case they run out of resources. Right now, he will probably bide his time and reveal those secrets when they can do the most damage but he might not have a lot of time before Melanie catches up to him.
Considering everything that's at stake, Melanie is probably going to hunt Layton down by any means necessary. Whether that involves executing people from the Tail or even using the young apprentice Miles (Jaylin Fletcher) as a hostage, she's not going to hesitate no matter how difficult it gets.
So now it's a race against time. Will Melanie capture Layton before he can spill the beans? Or will Layton beat her to the punch and unleash a world of pain on the head of hospitality? We'll just have to wait and see.
