Spoilers for 'Snowpiercer' Season 1 Episode 4 'Without Their Maker'

The mystery that's been haunting the train since the beginning of TNT's 'Snowpiercer' has finally been solved and the murderer is unmasked but that's opened a can of worms that could engulf the Snowpiercer in the flames of class warfare. If Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) thought she could end all her problems by catching the killer, maybe it's time she thought again.

Train detective Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) has been hunting the killer for quite some time and in Episode 4 'Without Their Maker', his search finally bears fruit. At the end of Episode 3 'Access is Power', it was revealed that Erik (Matt Murray) was the murderer, killing two more people to get to Nicolette 'Nikki' Genêt (Madeleine Arthur) but things get a lot more complicated in Episode 4.

Till (Mickey Sumner) and the rest of the brakemen and jackboots are able to hunt down Erik and kill him but during his investigation in the carriage of the Folgers, Erik's employers, Layton figures out that Erik was really just the attack dog. He may have been an accomplice in the murders but the one who actually committed the brutal crimes was LJ Folger (Annalise Basso).

Now Melanie has to decide whether to give LJ a fair trial or not, which is complicated by the murderous woman's status as a First Class passenger. If she is condemned, First Class will turn on Melanie but if she isn't, Third Class will do the same.

To make matters worse, Layton's been imprisoned in the drawers and the Tail knows he's missing so there's a chance that they may step up their plans for insurrection. And with the support of Third Class, there's a pretty good chance they might succeed.

In any case, things are not looking good for Melanie or the rest of the train's staff. One way or another, their heads are going to go on the metaphorical chopping block and if the Tailies get their way, on the literal one as well. Only time will tell how this scandal may forever change life on the Snowpierecer.

'Snowpiercer' airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on TNT.
