'Skin Decision: Before and After' is more than just a show about plastic surgery. The trailer of Netflix's newest offering had already established the fact that it's going to focus equally on telling the stories behind the scars of people participating in the show as well as on the surgeries. The network has come through with what was promised and the eight episodes of the first season have left fans bawling.

Each episode featured two people whose scars got in the way of their life and success. Take Katrina for instance, who was part of the first episode. She was shot at nine times on all her limbs except her right leg. The surgeries required to close her wounds marked her entire body, including a very prominent hole near her hip as well as a scar that ran along her entire torso area. With scars came judgment from people who she barely knew. She said she had to battle questions related to them whenever she was out in public, which constantly reminded her of what she lost.

She was shot at by her ex who she found holding a gun after returning from work, in 2012. After shooting her, he ended his life too but that was not the end of it. Katrina had also lost her two daughters in the incident and only knew about it once she woke up in the hospital some four to five days after the incident.

Another story is about Atticus, a trans-man who received a top surgery on the show, pushing him leaps and bounds ahead in his transitional journey. Then there was entrepreneur Nicholas Bravo whose face scars resulting from a life-threatening accident led to him being treated like a criminal. Dr Sheila Nazarian, a board-certified Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, and Nurse Jamie, an aesthetician, are two women working their magic on these people who need to get rid of their scars to move past all the past hurt and trauma.

Fans were certainly lapping up the heartwarming content. "Yo this first episode of Skin Decision on @netflix. My Lord. Don’t judge people’s scars. You never know what they are from. Lord," wrote a fan referring to the episode featuring Katrina. Another fan tweeted, "Omg the first half of episode one of skin decision on Netflix had me in tears but I honestly love this show. The surgeries they are doing on these people is life-changing." Another tweeted, "Watching Skin Decision on Netflix, which is like a plastic surgery/cosmetic procedure show, but it’s like.. inspirational? Only halfway through the first episode, I’ve already cried, and I am rooting for these ladies!"
