Spoilers for 'Siren' Season 3 Episode 1

Season 2 of ‘Siren’ saw Ben Pownall (Alex Roe) go against his own morality to save Ryn Fisher (Eline Powell) and the rest of the mermaid community, by letting the reporter drown to death, even though the biologist had a chance at saving him. His actions may have been conducted with the best of intent, keeping in mind Ryn’s safety, but Maddie continues to live with the impression that Ian Sutton (Luc Roderique) passed in the accident.

Season 3 of ‘Siren’ makes sure it has your attention from the very start by introducing a highly enthralling character through Tia (Tiffany Lonsdale), a new mermaid who has made an advent into the land, driven by utmost hatred for mankind.

Meanwhile, Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) is taken aback to learn the truth about Ian’s death, despite Ryn explaining to her why Ben chose to let the reporter die in the water.

Using the data from them Military research center, Tia tracks down Ryn and comes to see her at Ben and Maddie’s. While Ryn treats her as a potential threat owing to the fact that she belongs from a different tribe, the new mermaid, however, has come a long way to seek Ryn’s help in diminishing the entire mankind for all the harm they have caused to the mermaid community by taking over the ocean, which Tia believes, belongs to the creatures of her kind.

Season 3 of ‘Siren’ kickstarts on the right note by teasing a possible war between the humans and merpeople, bringing a vicious mermaid into the picture, who could be the sole reason for unleashing hell's wrath in Bristol Cove.

Meanwhile, Ryn’s baby is a matter of interest not only because it was born in the human body, but also seems to have a major role to play in the chaos that’s bound to unfold in the coastal town which has become Tia’s primary target.

Although Ryn sympathizes with the ongoing crisis of mermaids being attacked by humans and wants to join forces with Tia to protect what belongs to them, her values and treatment of mankind are different from that of Tia’s, whose only way of getting back at humans is to kill them.

But, besides being taken care of by humans, Ryn has come to believe that people like Ben and Maddie could play a key role in saving merpeople from becoming extinct.

We need to wait and watch in the upcoming episodes if Ryn’s baby will be able to contribute to the mother’s efforts to re-instill hope among the members of their community or if Tia is on a villainous streak, which couldn’t be stopped by the strongest of forces.

‘Siren’ Season 3 airs on Thursdays on Freeform.
