'Sign me up': Fans elated after 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' gets a new film with OG cast
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' is back to sink its hook into horror. Another sequel is in development from Sony Pictures that will see the return of two stars from the original 1997 film and its 1998 sequel: Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Furthermore, 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' received mixed reviews from critics, but was commercially successful, grossing 125 million dollars worldwide on a budget of 17 million dollars, and remaining number 1 at the box office for three consecutive weeks.
The slasher film is loosely based on the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan and is the first installment in the 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' franchise. The film was helmed by Jim Gillespie, written by Kevin Williamson, and starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. Regardless, fans are quite excited as their favorite slasher franchise is coming back.

'Thor: Love and Thunder' co-writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson set to direct
The project, which dips into the late ’90s nostalgia, is in the earliest stages of development, and talent deals have yet to be fully hammered out, according to sources. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote 'Thor: Love and Thunder' and directed Netflix’s 'Do Revenge,' is on board to direct the follow-up to the 1997 slasher film in which four friends are hunted by a murderer after they cover up an accident in which someone was killed. Sony Pictures is moving forward with another sequel for the teen horror franchise 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' with Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in talks to return.
