LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: FX's hottest historical drama, 'Shōgun', transports viewers to the complex and fascinating feudal Japan era, replete with politics and intrigues.

Created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, the series is based on James Clavell's book of the same name.

The series follows the adventures of Englishman John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis), who gets caught in a power battle between five daimyo.

Thrown into a strange culture, Blackthrone is initially met with suspicion and hostility, but he eventually gains the trust of Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada), who enlists his assistance in waging a battle against the regime in order to obtain ultimate control.

In the last episode, Toranaga, who was initially opposed to initiating an assault at Osaka Palace, eventually decides to use the battle method Crimson Sky.

His decision was based on the fact that Lord Ito (Eisuke Sasai) was selected as the fifth member of the regent, which means he may be impeached at any time, with war declared against him and his clan.

Furthermore, the arrival of heir Nakamura Yaechiyo's (Sen Mars) mother, Ochiba-no-Kata (Fumi Nikaido), has heightened palace politics in Osaka.

She is the reason for Ito's appointment since she has a past score to settle with Toranaga.

The love story between Blackthorne and Toda Mariko (Anna Sawai) is also developing at pace, with apparent tension between them, as Mariko leads Blackthorne to a brothel to spend the night with Kiku (Yuka Kouri), a clever courtesan.

In the upcoming episode, Toranaga will be seen asking his half-brother, Saeki Nobutatsu for assistance.

He has lost many of his warriors to the severe earthquake. Accordingly, he will seek the aid of his half-brother in deploying Crimson Sky.

Furthermore, more light will be cast on the complex dynamic between long-time friends Mariko and Ochiba, who haven't spoken since Mariko married.

It'll also be interesting to watch Ochiba's new tactic for exacting revenge on Toranaga.
