'Shahs of Sunset': Reza and MJ patch up, fans feel it was all staged just to have 'something new for Season 9'
Reza Farahan and Mercedes 'MJ' Javid's three decades of friendship was left in ruins after a rumor sent his married life with Adam Neely downhill. Reza was in shock to learn that the gossip (Adam had been cheating on Reza with other men and had been to a naked Jenga game in his absence) was started by MJ. He confronted Ali Ashouri, who was once at the center of it all — going around showing printouts of Adam's NSFW texts to anyone who will see, and later called MJ to confirm if it was really her who convinced Ali that he was being sexually harassed by Adam.
MJ was in no position to accept or deny Reza's claims because she was in the ER in the process of getting her uterus operated. The woman was hurt beyond belief that Reza would pick such a life-changing moment to accuse her of certain things. She carried that disappointment and when the two met at a pool party, a huge fight ensued that totally ruined any and all chances of them ironing out their differences and getting back to being friends.
This resentment, interspersed with mini apologies, was dragged through the whole of Season 8, and then, it spilled into the reunion as well. It was all about their huge fight and host Andy Cohen tried his best to patch things up, with a lot of help from Mike Shouhed, but to no avail. But something strangely beautiful happened as the episode was concluding, MJ called Reza up to understand the situation they were in.
They apologized and MJ said that Reza comes right after her husband and son, two of the most important people in her life. It was refreshing to see these two best friends of 30 years give each other another shot at friendship. They have too many memories and moments together to let it go all away based on just one (huge) misunderstanding.
Meanwhile, fans are convinced it's all staged. "Production asked them to talk to see if they can find something for a new season. Nothing genuine about it. Tommy will never forgive Reza in real life #shahsofsunset," a fan commented, while another shared: "I’m really starting to feel like this Reza/MJ fallout was staged (see Jill & Bethany #RHONY season 3) #ShahsofSunset #ShahsofSunsetReunion."
"Reza and MJ are exhausting. They are exactly the same - shady and twisted- but they love it in each other. Both of you, Accept that you are mirror images and move on. Neither one of you want to give up that Bravo check! #ShahsofSunset," a user tweeted. Another pointed out: "MJ was done w/Reza at the reunion. Now she calls him. I hope both their apologies are real. They need to understand they can't fight dirty chopping each others head off. #ShahsofSunset."
