Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov
The 25-year-old actress is not a full-blown celebrity yet, but she's on the cusp of becoming the next big sensation. She only has one on screen credit so far, a single episode of the series 'Banged Up Abroad' but 'Shadow and Bone' is expected to change all that. Mei Li, who has an English mother and a Chinese father, was raised in Surrey England. Acting may be her first love these days, but a close second is education. Jessie worked with neuro divergent children before she auditioned for a National Youth Theatre course and soon found herself starring along Gillian Anderson and Lily James in 'All About Eve'. The young actor then went onto be cast as Alina Starkov in 'Shadow and Bone' and we're sure in coming years they'll say, the rest is history.
Ben Barnes as General Kirigan
Ben Barnes, of course, captured public imagination with his role as Prince Caspian in 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian'. In 'Shadow and Bone', Barnes plays the leader of the Grisha, General Kirigan, who possesses the ability to summon and manipulate darkness. Barnes' first film was 'Stardust' and his second major film role was 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian'.
He next co-starred with Jessica Biel in 'Easy Virtue', played the title role in 'Dorian Gray' and reprised his role as Caspian in 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'. He is also known for films such as 'Killing Bono', 'The Words', 'The Big Wedding' and 'The Seventh Son'.
Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker
Freddy Carter made his onscreen debut in 'Wonder Woman' in 2017. 2017 was quite a breakout year for the actor, who also landed his first significant role as Peter "Pin" Hawthorne in the Netflix series 'Free Rein'. Carter is not just talented in front of the camera, but also behind it. In 2019, Carter wrote and directed his first short film, 'No. 89'. He also had a main role as Tom in the Channel 5 miniseries '15 Days' and a recurring role as Jason Ripper in the American DC Comics series 'Pennyworth'.
Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa
Actor Amita Suman was born in Nepal and moved to England when she was seven years old. Before landing the role of Inej Ghafa on 'Shadow and Bone', she had a recurring role as Naya in the CW series 'The Outpost'.
Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev
Archie Renaux is an English actor and model. Before landing his role on 'Shadow and Bone', he was known for his roles in the BBC One miniseries 'Gold Digger'. His film roles included 'Voyagers' and 'Morbius'.
