'Servant' Season 1 Episode 2 delves deeper into the mystery of the nanny and speeds up the pace of the events

The second episode of 'Servant' was markedly different from the first: more happened and it gave us reason to start distrusting Leanne.

With the second episode of the first season of 'Servant', we don't start immediately from where the first one left off. Dorothy is back from work, but she is in the taxi still, lost in a daze until the driver shakes her awake.

As Dorothy goes to see the baby -- which is an actual baby now -- Sean is still staring at Jericho, expecting Dorothy to know that something is different, but Dorothy carries on as the baby has always been there. Sean is in shock and asks Leanne whose baby it is that is lying in the crib, but he does not get an answer. And so he asks his wife where she found Leanne. Dorothy says that she found her through contacts on Twitter. Sean then turns to his brother-in-law, Julian, to ask his help and when he can't reach him, Sean decides to take the baby, presumably to the police station.

However, his plan is thwarted as his pin for the security system does not work and triggers an alarm, causing Dorothy to wake up and switch it off by entering the same pin. Sean, quite frustrated now, takes the cross lying above the baby's crib -- the one he first found in Leanne's belongings -- and puts it through the food dispenser. Following this, throughout the episode, Sean finds wooden splinters on different parts of his body, first his foot, then his butt, and in a very horrifying scene, pulls out a massive splinter from his throat.

Later, when Julian comes over, Sean takes him over to see the baby, rousing Julian's suspicions as well. Julian has the same questions as Sean did and decides to figure out who Leanne is. He even tells Sean to find out if there have been any missing baby reports -- which turn up negative. For all it says, no one seems to be missing a baby.

The second episode of 'Servant' also hammers in Leanne's unhealthy obsession with Dorothy. During Julian's birthday dinner at the Turner household, Dorothy and Julian decide to invite Leanne to dine with them -- the latter so he can ask more questions of Dorothy.

During the dinner, Sean realizes that he can't taste anything -- not the clams nor the wine -- which is a big problem for someone who earns his living as a chef. Though Sean is coughing and gagging (because of the aforementioned splinter in the throat), Dorothy just seems annoyed. When she finally follows him to the kitchen, she goes into a daze and does not respond to either Julian or Sean. But the spell is broken when she hears the baby crying and leaves the room. When Sean goes to check on her, the cross is hanging over the crib again.

The second episode of 'Servant' was markedly different from the first: more happened and it gave us reason to start distrusting Leanne. However, we are still mostly getting the story from Sean's perspective and his perspective may be flawed as well.

The first three episodes of 'Servant' are now available to stream on Apple TV+. The following seven episodes will be released weekly.
