'Selling Sunset': Who are Tom and Lisa Bilyeu? Meet the power couple who bought $40M Hollywood Hills mansion
By now everyone pretty much knows about 'Selling Sunset' being a smashing success. At the center of this Netflix show is the Oppenheim Group, a brokerage that prides itself on having the most expensive and exclusive listings in the Hollywood Hills areas. The show just premiered its third season, two weeks ago and until then the group was helmed by twin brothers Jason and Brett. As per reports, Brett has left the brokerage to start another agency independently.
Supporting in the growth of the company by selling these super grand houses are seven gorgeous real estate agents: Christine Quinn, Mary Fitzgerald, Davina Potratz, Heather Rae Young, Maya Vander, Chrishell Stause, and the newest addition Amanza Brown. Right in Season 1, the brothers called upon their successful group of agents to meet with them at a property in the Hills. The colossal house was listed at $40 million, one of the biggest listings at the agency at that time (then came Davina's $75 million listing).
The brothers announced that selling the house would mean a $1.2 million commission for the agent who makes the sale and then started the race towards the check. Unfortunately, the agents struggled with it that season and the one that followed after. The biggest agent in the room turned out to be the man himself, Jason, who declared he made the sale at the 'Friendsgiving' dinner in Season 3 but he didn't reveal who purchased it due to an NDA. However, the word is out about the people who now own the house and everyone can finally breathe in peace.
The property was sold for a whopping $35.5 million in December 2019, according to the Los Angeles Times. The same month, Variety reported that the couple who now owns the house is Tom and Lisa Bilyeu, co-founders of the food company Quest Nutrition. Lisa posted a picture of herself and Tom sitting by the pool that wraps around the exterior of the entire house, on August 9, and this definitely confirms all those reports that named them as the buyers.
The massive house comes with five bedrooms, nine bathrooms and the owner paid $400,000 to drop the power lines to ensure unobstructed views. The property also housed a 15-car garage, four hot tubs, a wine cellar, an indoor theater, spa, an elevator, and also a part of it was one of the largest rooftop deck on any property listed in The Hills. The buyers at least needed to be worth at least $250 million if they wanted to make the purchase. According to Wealthy Gorilla, Tom's net worth in 2020 is roughly estimated at $400 million dollars.
