'Selling Sunset' castmates and couple Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet have been in the news for quite some time. The former has been posting loved up photographs of the two of them on her Instagram timeline and has managed to spark rumors that they are expecting a child. Another news doing the rounds for some time now is about the show being completely staged and a new revelation about Mary and Romain's relationship has managed to fuel the fire on these rumors. On Sunday, August 23, TMZ reported that the couple was married way back in 2018, as opposed to the one that was documented at the end of Season 2, the one that was filmed only in 2019. The outlet reported that the couple was married way before they began filming for the Netflix show.

They managed to acquire the couple's marriage license and certificate of marriage which shows they have been a married couple since March 9, 2018. This is surprising for many reasons, number one being the fact that Mary raised quite a lot of concerns about her relationship with Romain in Season 1 and was seen bursting into tears on a couple of occasions stating various reasons. Then there was the party where Christine asked Romain if a wedding is on the cards soon and he played it off saying "we'll see." Also, Christine was Mary's best friend at that point and she still argued with her expressing concern over her moving too fast with Romain and there are high chances of this exchange being fake as both of these women were very close back then.

The couple is defending their wedding on the Netflix show, maintaining that their ceremony was not fake. A rep for them while speaking with Metro said, "Mary and Romain had a civil union a couple of months before the show began filming in June of 2018, but they chose not to tell any of their friends or family, as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term." The rep further added, "‘In their minds, they weren’t properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show."

Chrissy Teigen too said something to the effect of never having heard of these agents in Los Angeles even though she looked at real estate a lot.  She has become one of the first stars to have raised a doubt about the authenticity of the star cast of the show. She revealed about having "obsessively asked" about them to her agents but no one really knew about them being a part of the industry.

After this news broke, fans took to Twitter to weigh in, on the drama surrounding it. "Selling sunset is so obviously scripted but I still enjoy it because the drama is top-level," wrote a fan.

Another tweet read, "Selling sunset is so scripted and contrived but I’m into it just for the $30M Commiefornia houses."

"I'm watching selling sunset rn and I HAVE TO PAUSE SO MUCH SHEER BC OF THE ABSURDITY AND TACTLESSNESS AT TIMES, IK REALITY T.V IS SCRIPTED BUT STILL." read another tweet.

The first three seasons of 'Selling Sunset' are now streaming on Netflix and there's no official word on the fourth season as of yet.
