'Time to Heal' is the tagline for Season 3 of 'New Amsterdam' and that's a sentiment the world can agree with right now. But just how challenging is it for the doctors at 'New Amsterdam' to heal in the face of a post-pandemic world?

In Season 3, Dr Max Goodwin played by Ryan Eggold is no longer content just fixing a broken system, he wants to simply start from scratch and tear it down completely. This is in light of the glaring inequities in the healthcare system that have come to light during the pandemic. Season 3 of 'New Amsterdam' sees the doctors also trying to come to grips with what is the new normal after the devastation they have seen.

Ryan Eggold starrer 'New Amsterdam' will focus on the post-pandemic world in Season 3 (NBC)

Plot

Fans who were hoping for the Sharpwin romance to finally take off may be in for a disappointment for several reasons. The trailer hints at a flirtation developing between Dr Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) and the new trauma surgeon at New Amsterdam Cassian Shin (Daniel Dae Kim). Besides, it doesn't seem that Max who is running a hospital in the middle of a pandemic, will find much time for love anyway. Another development which will have fans on the edge of their seat is Dr Kapoor's declining health. The trailer shows Kapoor played by Anupam Kher lying in a hospital bed unconscious, on a vent and with major damage to his heart.

Cast

Daniel Dae Kim

Daniel Dae Kim joined the cast of ' New Amsterdam' as trauma surgeon Cassian Kim in Season 2. However, following industry-wide shutdowns, 'New Amsterdam' faced a condensed Season 2, which highly impacted the introduction of Dae Kim’s new character. So let's reintroduce you to the actor and the role he will be playing.

There is friction expected between Cassian Kim and Max Sharp's characters since they both have completely different styles of working. Also, not to mention that Cassian seems to be flirting with Dr Sharpe.

David Schulner the executive producer of ' New Amsterdam' on Cassian Kim's character says," What he does works for him. How he works, works for him. He didn’t come to New Amsterdam to save everyone. He came to New Amsterdam to save trauma victims. And if he is off being quixotic like Max is, he won’t be able to do his job."

Dae Kim seems to have quite the medical TV background since the production company he runs currently produces the television series 'The Good Doctor'. He is known for his roles as Jin-Soo Kwon in 'Lost', Chin Ho Kelly in 'Hawaii Five-0', Gavin Park in 'Angel', and Johnny Gat in the 'Saints Row' series of video games.

According to the show's creators, there are no plans of adding any new characters to the cast of 'New Amsterdam' anytime soon.
