While the Korean-American soloist is known for his R&B tracks, Sam Kim has also been dubbed as an ‘OST King’ by his fans for his iconic soundtracks for legendary K-dramas like ‘Goblin’, ‘Search: WWW’ and ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’. His latest OST ‘Love Me Like That’ for the popular Netflix K-drama ‘Nevertheless’ took him to a new height of fame as the song went viral on social media and entered several reputable music charts. And now he’s ready to further branch out with his first dance-pop song by partnering up with DJ R3HAB.

Sam Kim first debuted with his mini-album ‘I Am Sam’ after he became the runner-up on the survival show ‘K-pop Star 3’. Known for his heavenly vocals, he mainly opted for soulful ballads and soft R&B songs. He has had several collaborations with other R&B and hip-hop artists like Crush, Zico and Punchnello. Apart from the ‘Nevertheless’ OST, he was last featured on AKMU’s collaborative album and released ‘These Walls’ for a Samsung ad.

Sam Kim experiments with dance music

Fans were wondering what the R&B soloist is up to now since it’s been a while since he released new music. Well, it has been revealed that Sam Kim is busy with something new. He is working on a song in the dance genre and has roped in none other than DJ R3HAB as the producer. Having made a name for himself in the EDM scene, the Dutch-Moroccan DJ R3HAB has also worked in K-pop with the likes of EXO, Chungha and TWICE for their upcoming album ‘Formula of Love’.

Sam Kim also has an upcoming single as he is set to collab with Indonesian singer Raisa on ‘Someday’ which will be released on November 12. Fans on the other hand were upset that Sam Kim and his ‘Love Me Like That’ OST for ‘Nevertheless' was not nominated for the ‘Best OST’ award at the 2021 MAMA. Critics also claimed that the OST elevated the realistic but toxic relationship portrayed in the drama. Well, to reassure fans, Sam Kim is going all out for his next piece of music.

And while he is known for his romantic OSTs and has created a niche for himself in R&B, he has decided to gift fans with something new. Along with R3HAB, Sam Kim is working on a dance single as he “wanted to take on a new challenge writing the song” and hoped “to put out something fresh” for his fans. This will be his first-ever dance song that too in English and is set to be released in January 2022.
