'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 12: Jackie Cox's powerful performance has fans hailing her as 'lip-sync assassin'
Jackie Cox just rendered the best lip sync we've seen so far this season and fans stan the drag queen. Though she nailed her runway challenge, Jackie found herself in the bottom 2 and had to lipsync for her life against Widow.
'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 12 returned on Friday night for Episode 9 'Choices 2020'. This week we witnessed the contestants battle it out to become America's first drag president. It was definitely an entertaining episode with guest judges Rachel Bloom and Jeff Goldblum joining the panel this week. But we also got to see an emotional side of Jeff during the lipsync battle.
Apart from that, tonight's episode was intense and all claws were out as the competition gets tougher. Last week we saw Jan Sport sashay away after she lost the lip sync battle to Widow Von'Du. Back again this week, Widow claimed that she will bring out all the stops and overshadow the other queens if she is in a lip sync battle. But sadly things didn't go as planned for the queen, as she didn't perform great during the drag presidential debate. She found herself in the bottom once again.
Joining her in the bottom 2 was Jackie Cox. It was an emotional episode for Jackie as she revealed how because of Trump's immigration ban, her aunt who is in Iran is unable to come and take care of her mother who is unwell. We also got to know that Jackie is Canadian and has a green card to stay in the US.
During her debate, Jackie didn't perform as much as she was expected to. But she made it up during her runway challenge. The drag queen strutted down the runway with a powerful political statement. She wore on a beautiful red kaftan with a midnight blue hijab to prove that one can be Middle Eastern, Muslim, and still be American.
Lipsyncing to Katy Perry's 'Firework' Jackie blew the roof off with her performance. It was emotional, powerful along with a little humor.
Without a doubt, RuPaul Charles saved her, eliminating Widow. Taking to Twitter, fans said Jackie is a lip-sync assassin. "Jackie this lip sync was.. wow. Her runway statement made that lip sync so powerful. #DragRace," a fan wrote.
"Jackie ate that lip sync. That was comedic, powerful & on the money. #DragRace," a fan said. While another fan added, "Jackie is the lipsync assassin of the season and yall arent ready for it #dragrace."
"YAAAALLLL JACKIE COX OUTSANG A LIPSYNC ASSASSIN IN A HIJAB AND MADE JEFF GOLDBLUM CRY WHAT A WIN #DragRace," a fan added. Another fan shared, "Nothing made me happier then Jackie going into this lip sync and not doing a reveal. She lipsynced and sold it without having to cheapen the message she came to promote with her runway look #DragRace."
