Let's forget the mellow couple of 'Run On' Mi-joo (Shin Se-kyung) and Seon-gyeom (Im Siwan) for now because the highlight of episode 11 is the growth in Dan-ah (Soohyun) and Yeong-hwa's (Kang Tae-oh) relationship. The rich CEO hired a young college student to paint pictures for her after being mesmerized by his paintings. She was lost in reverie every time she saw one of his paintings and so she wanted to have it all for herself. However, Yeong-hwa was different from all the people that Dan-ah had ever met and it was not just the paintings that fascinated her anymore. He did too.

Of course, in a fit of rage, when she realized how curious and dependent she was in wanting to meet Yeong-hwa and talk to him and converse with him, she had ruined it all. She tried to possess him and his talent and thereby fell from the pedestal that Yeong-hwa had built for her in the first place. One of the most beautiful paintings that Yeong-hwa had painted in the hopes of giving it to Dan-ah was ruined after he splashed it with paint in anger.

The burst out resulted in the two of them parting ways for a bit and Yeong-hwa realized how different Dan-ah was from the person he imagined her to be. He also tried to tell himself that he will not have any personal relationship with her whatsoever after having a heart to heart conversation with Mi-joo. He even succeeds at infuriating Dan-ah with his indifference and obedience when he agrees to sign a contract. This is so unlike him and Dan-ah is not satisfied. She had believed that obedience, indifference are the things that she had wanted him to be but when he did state that he is done liking her, she is unable to take it.

So in the guise of a feedback meeting, she calls him to her office and tells him to paint in front of her. She tells him that he can paint anything he wants and as she watches him sketch on the canvas, she comes to the realization that it was never just about the painting. She realizes that the painter held her attention as much as his work and that is how we see Dan-ah tell him that he has no right to stop liking her. She in fact states that he better continue to like her and that does partly infuriate Yeong-hwa as well because he then asks why she would act like a kid. The tense moment leads to a passionate kiss that shocks both Yeong-hwa and Dan-ah because now, the two of them realize how strong their chemistry really is.

'Run On' episodes air on Wednesdays and Thursdays on JTBC in Seoul, South Korea, and can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
