'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 12: Crown belongs to Gigi Goode and not Jaida Essence Hall, say upset fans

Gigi Goode's stint on 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 12 has been nothing short of exemplary and she continued her golden run even in the finale episode.

She deserved every bit of the crown but the best queen won. Jaida Essence Hall sent the internet on a frenzy after host-mentor RuPaul Andre Charles crowned her the winner after she put up an electrifying performance on 'Survivor' by Destiny's Child. But, there's a section of fans who think Gigi was robbed of the crown and that it was her's all along. It may seem like they are reacting impulsively but a good look at Gigi's trajectory on the show will give you an idea why they may have been left disappointed over the defeat.

Gigi has won four challenges and not by fluke. She showed creativity and humor in her runway looks, which had the judges impressed. But like other queens, she faced a dry spell too and that came once she grew confident of how capable, talented and skilled she had become at lip-syncing or even creating new runway looks each week. However, even when she wasn't winning too many challenges and her position on the series slipped, there was never a time she had to prove her worth in an elimination challenge. In a nutshell, judges and RuPaul knew she was a winner. Too bad that all of the hard work didn't translate on the big day. But, we all know she's made for great things.

Meanwhile, fans are furious that Jaida had been crowned the queen. "No wonder why Ru is hiding his face.... that crown belongs to Gigi #RuPaulsDragRace," a viewer commented, while another shared: "Absolutely ROBBED!!!! #RuPaulsDragRace Gigi Goode deserved it!" Another said, "Gigi and Crystal built entire sets for their lipsyncs and Jaida just danced around her living room and then won the crown. #RuPaulsDragRace." One fan pointed out, "The sun will still come up tomorrow no matter what. The most interesting part is watching how the careers go. Some winners take off and get big. Some don’t. Frequently it’s the runner ups that get large and in charge. We’ll see," implying that Gigi and Crystal Methyd will probably be more successful than Jaida. "Gigi slayed all three and should have won. I call bs," a viewer expressed, while another posted, "Sooo Gigi literally killed that competition with 4 wins and never having to lip-sync... just to lose? I love me some Jaida but y’all can’t stand there and say her track-record was better when it wasn’t. #DragRaceFinale #RuPaulsDragRace."
