'Real Housewives of Atlanta' labeled 'disrespectful' for showing stripper fight after Breonna Taylor tribute
The latest episode of 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' left fans seething with rage. The hit reality show featured the housewives eagerly watching Breonna Taylor's hearing. Porsha Williams has been vocal and active about seeking justice for the late EMT who was allegedly shot dead by police in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 13.
Porsha was even arrested for participating in the protests demanding for the police officers involved in the shooting to be punished. So all the ladies huddled around the television while vacationing in South Carolina to see what the court decided. When they saw that the police officer was charged with wanton endangerment, they were all filled with rage and disappointment. Porsha broke down while expressing how it felt like she was on "borrowed time" in the country, as Black lives seemed to be at risk. Porsha's friend Tanya Sam pointed out how the legal system seemed to be more focused on the property damage caused by the police officer's shooting rather than Breonna's death.

Just as fans were still reeling from this highly emotional moment, the producers immediately pivoted to the next scene that featured the housewives fighting over "sisterhood" and talking about strippers. Kenya Moore was upset with her fellow housewives for not being supportive of her decision to bring her daughter on the trip, while the other ladies were busy planning a bachelorette party for Cynthia Bailey and deciding on strippers.
Many fans felt that the flow of scenes was extremely disrespectful towards the memory of Breonna. A fan tweeted, "I’m not okay with crying over Breonna Taylor then a few hours later out eating dinner and fucking a stripper. It’s disrespects as fuck. #rhoa." Another fan wrote, "...really unfortunate how they were upset about Breonna Taylor & wanting to talk about sisterhood & now here they are being passive aggressive to one another #RHOA." One more said, "The editing on this show is complete SHIT! How do you go from that scene with the ladies somber over the Breonna Taylor news to them arguing and then a stripper scene.? #RHOA," commented a fan.

Many fans also slammed the showrunners for making Taylor's death a part of the reality show's storyline. A fan shared, "I hate @Bravo and Porsha Williams using Breonna Taylor as a storyline. Breonna’s name should not be associated with messy reality tv show drama. It is offensive and tone deaf. #RHOA." Another said, "As someone who organizes, it’s not appropriate to squeeze in our trauma on a show like this as a sound byte. Breonna’s legacy deserves much more respect and honor. This isn’t a storyline. It’s not a moment or a theme for a season. Black women continue to be unprotected. #rhoa." Another fan said, "I love the way porsha has become super work. However I do not like that breonna or the movement is being used as a part of her storyline. Let me be very clear, black trauma is not entertainment. #rhoa."
