Anything about the Avengers franchise is bound to rile up the fandom. Hence, it didn't come as much of a surprise when a Reddit user shared a major spoiler, claiming to tease the post-credit scenes of 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' and its ties with the untitled fourth Avengers movie, and sending the netizens into an overdrive in the process.

In his post, the Redditor, who goes by the name of abigfriend, suggested that the title for Avengers 4 would finally be released after the post-credits scene of the upcoming blockbuster, 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'. This way, Marvel would be able to facilitate a smooth transition from Avengers: Infinity War, through Paul Rudd-starring Ant-man sequel, and 2019's Avengers 4.

Not only this, as part of the alleged Avengers leak, one post also hinted about the possible monikers for the fourth movie. Apparently, the word "Avengers" won't be a part of the title but there would be three words, with "F" and "H" being the first letter. As a natural progression to this theory, online pundits soon started floating around ideas for the title of the upcoming Avengers movie, with suggestions like "The Fallen Heroes" and "The Final Hour" also making the rounds, as per Movie Web.

In an interesting turn to this series of events, however, it has now been revealed that the Redditor was making false claims. In fact, the leak was completely made up by the user with some help from a fellow user, 20wordleaks, especially with regards to the references to Hawkeyes' ill fate.

"Hey guys, I didn't know this would blow up as big as it did. I want to clear this up as enough is enough. Unfortunately, everything I wrote was made up," the Redditor wrote.

"I was sick for the past 2 days so I decided to kill some time by writing a theory. About a month ago I saw u/20wordleaks do the same thing by posting spoilers without any credibility and I saw how everyone believed him. I decided to try this however with more details to make it look even more legit."

He added: "A lot of you smart ones noticed that I borrowed a lot of my "leaks" from 20wordleaks such as Hawkeye family being dusted in the post credits. I basically took a lot of what he wrote and mixed in my own version. I also made up plot points that incorporated other leaks such as the photos of the Avengers 1 era just to make my post seem even more legit (sic)."

Now, this would surely serve as a damper to the lofty ideas that many Marvel fans cooked up based on this plot theory. True or not, ABigFriend's theory is definitely intriguing and gives us, Marvel loyalists, something to look forward to.
