Netflix bolstered its anime programming by announcing a new show based on the highly-popular Japanese manga series, ‘Record of Ragnarok’. The upcoming anime adaptation is one of the highly-anticipated shows on the streaming platform which is set to enthrall the viewers with epic sequences.

The streaming giant has been doing everything to foray into different categories and anime is one of them. With shows like ‘The Way of the Househusbands’, ‘Trese’ and ‘Yasuke’ already available, the streaming platform will be hoping to knock it out of the park with ‘Record of Ragnarok’ as well.

The upcoming series is based on the storyline featured in the original manga written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and illustrated by Ajichika. ‘Record of Ragnarok’ tells the story of that fateful day when the Gods’ Council assembles to decide the fate of humanity. The council decides that humans must go extinct for all the atrocities they have done. However, Brunhild believes that humans must be given one last chance to prove their worth. The council takes the decision of having a tournament between the most powerful gods and humans. Humans would need to win the tournament if they want to survive.

Plot

“Every 1000 years, the Gods' Council assembles to decide the fate of humanity. After 7 million years of human history, the gods come to the decision that humans are irredeemable and must go extinct. However, the Valkyrie Brunhild proposes to give humanity one last chance to prove their worth and the gods agree to hold the battle of Ragnarok, a tournament with 13 notable humans from across history against 13 of the most powerful gods engaging in duels to the death. Humanity will be spared if their side achieves 7 victories in the competition. To even the odds, each human is granted the assistance of a valkyrie who transforms into a powerful weapon tailored for their user's combat style called “Volund”, at the risk of losing her life if the user is killed.”

Cast

Miyuki Sawashiro will be voicing the character of Brunhild while Tomoyo Kurosawa will be lending her voice to Goll. The information of other actors is unknown as of yet.
