LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sydney Sweeney's face has undoubtedly appeared on a few of the most popular TV shows you've been watching. The actor has had a remarkable few years and a career filled with amazing projects including 'The Handmaid's Tale', 'Sharp Objects', 'Euphoria', 'The White Lotus', and others. Sweeney will next be appearing as a real-life veteran in the role of Reality Winner for the HBO movie 'Reality', scheduled to release on May 29.

The 25-year-old will also be co-starring in her first Marvel feature, 'Madame Web', with Dakota Johnson. Her main roles in the HBO blockbusters 'The White Lotus' and 'Euphoria' have made her the new queen of the small screen, but Hollywood's elite actors and directors weren't always of the opinion that Sweeney was suitable for television.

'I will never be on a TV show'

In an interview with British GQ, the 25-year-old discussed how she struggled to find jobs throughout her adolescent years, forcing her financially constrained family to live in a low-cost motel room. "A casting director told me once that I will never be on a TV show," Sweeney admitted.

The 'Euphoria' star allegedly received this comment along with the claim that she lacked the "right look" for acting success. Sweeney, though, unquestionably received her due. She boasted, "Now, I’m on some of the biggest TV shows in the world."

Sweeney recalled another instance when the mother of one of her peers gave her some nasty feedback about how she looked. Sweeney and Zendaya co-star in 'Euphoria', which renewed for a third season in the midst of its successful second season, proving the critics wrong without a doubt, as reported by People.

The Emmy-nominated actress once opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about the rejection and how adults in the entertainment industry perceived her. She said, "The rejection you get while you’re trying to learn to be yourself is insane. It’s insane how adults look at you." She claimed that after receiving two Emmy nominations, she still feels like an outsider in Hollywood.

"I had no idea getting into this industry how many people have connections. I started from ground zero, and I know how f**king hard it is. Now I see how someone can just walk in a door, and I’m like, ‘I worked my f**king a** off for 10 years for this.’"

Despite being criticized by D.A.R.E. for "glorifying" drug usage, Sweeney starrer 'Euphoria' has become one of the most talked-about shows worldwide, with its cast receiving a cover story for The Cut. Sweeney also played the lead in the short-lived television series 'The White Lotus', which received two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. The Associated Press also designated her as the Breakthrough Entertainer for 2021.

'Reality' star Sydney Sweeney as a famed data leaker

According to Variety, Sweeney plays Reality Winner in the Tina Satter-directed movie; Reality Winner was found guilty of leaking confidential information on Russian influence in the 2016 elections to the media. 'Reality' is based on writer-director Satter's play 'Is This a Room', and it features dialogue that was taken verbatim from the transcript of Winner's 2017 home questioning by FBI agents.

After starring in the popular drama 'Euphoria' and the first season of 'The White Lotus', Sweeney has a devoted following among the viewers of HBO. Jessica Kiang, a film critic for Variety, called Sweeney's performance in the movie "revelatory" and said that it is a "clever, gripping docudrama."
