Will Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ spin-off affect his plan to retire after 10 movies?

The fact that the ace director has always wanted to sign off after 10 movies is no news. For years, Quentin Tarantino has been letting fans know about his plan of happily going into retirement after helming 10 movies, of which he has successfully completed nine. But now, he is all set to foray into small screen with his next venture- a spin-off series from the award-winning ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.’

This is great news for all Tarantino fans. However, this might just be a deviation from his career plan, where he had decided to direct and create only 10 movies and then take a break, perhaps for good.

But this is not the first time this question has been raised. In recent times, there have been talks about a third chapter of ‘Kill Bill’, which will be a part of the ‘Kill Bill’ franchise. Although that cannot be counted as a ‘separate movie’ from the rest of the series, it’s still a new project, nevertheless. However, this current plan of the spin-off TV series makes it all very different.

As reported by Deadline, the series will be based on the show ‘Bounty Law’ featured in ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ and might see Jake Cahill’s character in focus. In the movie, Cahill’s character is played by Leonardo DiCaprio who stars as Rick Dalton. As Tarantino explained in the interview, "It got an introduction from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but I don't really consider it part of that movie even though it is. This is not about Rick Dalton playing Jake Cahill. It's about Jake Cahill."

The director also confirmed the creation of five episodes of the series, all of which he plans to direct. Additionally, he also plans to release an extended version of ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’, which we don’t know when.

There’s no doubt that Quentin Tarantino is a name that resonates with quirky storylines and some of the most unique and innovative movies that the industry has seen until now. For three decades and still counting, the filmmaker has given us memorable and iconic characters to remember him by and it would be a real disappointment if we don’t get to see more of his works. He has created nine original movies and has contributed to many other (as writer and producer) and that leaves us with one last project, if he decides to stick to his plan.

However, the question still remains if his latest project will actually mark the end of his filmography plan or will he continue to create magic for his fans like he has been doing for so many years? But for now, all eyes will be on the 10 nominations that 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' has landed in the Oscar race.
