'Project Runway' Season 18: Release date, plot, cast, guest judges and everything you need to know about the fashion competition
Workroom cattiness, runway rush, high-fashion and success stories — what's not to like? 'Project Runway' is an extremely likable fashion reality show and is all set to return to Bravo TV with Season 18.
Release Date
'Project Runway' Season 18 premieres on December 5, 9.30/ 8.30 c.
Plot
Sixteen undiscovered designers conceptualizing, designing, stitching, creating fierce fashion pieces is what this Emmy-winning competition series is all about. Ably-guided by judges and mentors along the way, the participants are all set to add another eventful chapter in the history of fashion.
The winner walks away with a grand prize of $250,000, a feature in Elle Magazine, a life-changing mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America, an additional $50,000 compliments of returning sponsor Pilot, and an opportunity to be a part of Bluprint's (official DIY partner of 'PR') digital series.
Without a doubt, the designers have to bring their A-game on given what they have on stake. All of it is career-changing. But what takes the cake is the makers acknowledging how important inclusivity has become in the past decade and making impressive moves around it.
Team 'PR' has an onboard nonbinary model, a trans model, and also the oldest designer to have ever competed on the show. The designers will even be tasked with creating functional pieces for Olympians and Paralympians.
However, a few elements will remain constant such as the famous 'Siriano Save' using which an eliminated contestant can be brought back to the show, and the pièce de résistance, which presents designers with a golden opportunity to showcase their final collection at the New York Fashion Week.
Cast
Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth will be helming the judges' seats, while Karlie Kloss and Christian Siriano will be back with their hosting and mentoring duties, respectively.
Also, the show has a string of guest judges who will be equally responsible for determining who stays and who takes the exit. Some of them are Cyndi Lauper, Laverne Cox, Leslie Jones, Lindsey Vonn, Rachel Brosnahan, Thom Browne, Ashley Longshore, and Marni Senofonte among others.
