Episode 2 of 'Prodigal Son' Season 2 played too much with the tension. But after his trials and tribulations, Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) plummets deep into the lanes of his own past in the upcoming Episode 3.  With the Tony-winning actor Christian Borle guest starring, read on to find out when you get to see Bright revisit his past as yet another murder rattles him to his core.

According to TV listings and schedule, the next Episode of 'Prodigal Son' Season 2, titled 'Alma Mater' will air in just a short week's time, Tuesday, January 26, at 9 pm only on Fox. The official synopsis of the episode teases "When the headmaster of Bright's alma mater is found murdered, he is forced to face a troubling secret from his past. Meanwhile, Jessica struggles with her decision to end things with Gil, Martin grows closer to Friar Pete (guest star Christian Borle) and JT eagerly anticipates the birth of his baby."

Tense as all of that sounds, this isn't the worst Bright has had to witness, given his own father was 'The Surgeon' aka Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen), the psychopath doctor who killed 23 of his patients. His sister Ainsley (Halston Sage) too is spiraling beyond his comprehension now, as her dissociative episodes are getting more frequent and intense. The second episode of this season, titled 'Speak of the Devil' saw a priest's murder rattle Bright's personal life. The priest is found murdered in his place of worship and that leads to Bright grappling with its effect on his own trauma. Let's add to that Ainsley also worrying that their mother Jessica (Bellamy Young) is keeping something from her regarding her relationship with their surrogate father, Gil.

It's not as if the Whitly kids have seen enough or something. The jabs at whatever father figure Bright can look towards for guidance are getting more rampant this season, with writers trying to stab and pick at the scabs of his trauma more and more. The impact of their past is etched on Ainsley's recent outrageous behavior, and with Marin consistently trying to insert himself into Bright's life, peace seems like a far away dream.

'Prodigal Son' Season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on Fox.
