'Presumed Innocent': New suspect may alter the course of Carolyn Polhemus's murder investigation
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'Presumed Innocent'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Apple TV+'s ongoing courtroom drama, 'Presumed Innocent' has effectively captivated viewers due to its capability to keep the mystery surrounding Carolyn Polhemus's (Renate Reinsve) true killer alive.
Based on Scott Turow's novel of the same name, the television series follows Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal), a prosecutor accused of murdering his colleague and secret girlfriend, Carolyn, and his efforts to prove his innocence.
Despite being the primary suspect, Rusty is certain that Liam Reynolds (Mark Harelik), who killed Bunny Davis, murdered Carolyn, and amid this a new suspect has emerged which will potentially complicate the mystery further.
Who is this new suspect in 'Presumed Innocent'?
In the compelling series, Rusty discovers that spermatozoa samples from two separate people were recovered from Bunny following her murder.
While one sample is identified as belonging to Reynolds, the identity of the second individual remains unknown, adding another layer of intricacy to the case.
Determined to find out the truth, Det. Alana Rodriguez (Nana Mensah) launches her parallel investigation to assist Rusty and her relentless attempts lead her to identify the second man, who turns out to be Brian Ratzer (Marco Rodríguez).
Rodriguez and Rusty decide to confront Ratzer at his home but the encounter swiftly turns hostile.
Ratzer becomes enraged when Rusty confronts him, attempting to scare him into cooperating, and rather than responding, he becomes enraged and insists that they leave his property immediately.
Did Brian Ratzer kill Carolyn Polhemus in 'Presumed Innocent'?
While it is still unknown why Carolyn kept the information about the second unidentified sample hidden, Rusty has offered his theory about Ratzer's participation in the case which cements that Ratzer was involved with Bunny.
Mya Winslow (Gabby Beans) interrogates Ratzer about his relationship with Bunny Davis, but Ratzer initially avoids her questions and denies knowing Davis.
Eventually, he admits to potentially meeting her a few times, but he refuses any involvement in her murder or knowledge of Reynolds.
Despite his assurances, Rusty remains skeptical and intends to confront Ratzer again in the future.
Now, it's likely that Ratzer had dirt on Carolyn or some insignificant personality in the prosecutor's office that compelled Carolyn to keep his name out of the Davis case, or that he murdered Carolyn as he was afraid she would reveal his secret and chose to kill her to remove that threat from his life.
With only three episodes remaining, we'll soon find out the answer to the convoluted mystery behind Carolyn's death.
