'Power' season 6 episode 2: Tommy's downfall inevitable thanks to LaKeisha as Tariq plays everyone to fulfill his agenda

Tommy is certainly getting sloppy this season, especially because of his blind faith in LaKeisha. But a war is brewing and he better wake up.

It’s the beginning of the end. ‘Power’ just premiered its sixth and final season, and as promised, we got a taste of the Tommy vs. Ghost battle that this season is going to focus on.

The cliffhanger – which, let’s be honest, wasn’t much of a cliffhanger – was addressed right away, when an impassioned Paz (Elizabeth Rodriguez) accused Ghost (Omari Hardwick) of being the real reason behind her sister’s death. Of course, this hurts Ghost, right where it was meant to because he is in shock about losing the love of his life, his high school sweetheart. And, he wants payback.

Now, as far as Tommy (Joseph Sikora) is concerned, they are even. Ghost manipulated him into murdering his father, and he killed Angela (Lela Loren), and he believes that that beef is done and dusted. Except, it is not. Seriously! Did Tommy really think that Ghost would not retaliate? Why was he as shocked when he found out that Ghost – for all intents and purposes his brother – tried to kill him.

Tommy is certainly getting sloppy this season, especially because of his blind faith in LaKeisha (La La Anthony). If he thinks this girl is ready for a life surrounded by crime, he has been sleeping through seasons 1 to 5. The premiere episode basically is a tutorial for things that an accomplice in crime must not do – take a murder weapon home in your handbag, let your young son fish through the said handbag, touch the murder weapon with your bare hands. Is this your first rodeo, LaKeisha? Sure seems like it!

And, Tommy seems none the wiser. He is hoping that Ghost believes he is dead, and that he can fly under the radar. It seems unlikely, especially because he seems to be running in the wrong circle – with LeKeisha and even Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.)

Tariq this season is possibly the most important character of all - he is a loose cannon. We do know where his loyalties lie, and from the looks of it, nor does he – at least for the moment. He definitely has his problems with Ghost and makes it clear to Tommy that he may not be all that sad if something “really bad” were to happen to his dad.

Dre's intentions and loyalties are still in question, but we believe he may be his father's savior in the series finale (Starz)

He claims to still not know what exactly happened between Tommy and Ghost, but it seems like he does. He is quite possibly gathering up all the facts, before taking a call on his next move. We do see him saying in the trailer for season 6 episode 2 that he is not willing to go down with Ghost.

However, from the looks of it, he may side with Ghost in his fight against Tommy. After all, he does have some loyalty to Angela. As his mom Tasha (Naturi Naughton) reminds him, she is the reason he walks free today. At the end of the day, though, he has his own agenda. It is very likely that he will take his legacy forward, come the series finale.

We also know that this season he will be in communication with Dre (Torimi Akinosho), who we know is never up to any good. Could there be a tie-up between them? Only time will tell.

Don’t forget to catch season 6 episode 2 of ‘Power’ on Starz next Sunday, September 1.
